I'm usually someone who will run to the vet at the very first sign of a problem and several times there hasn't been anything wrong with my cats. I will absolutely take my kitten to the vet if she needs to go, but I've spent several thousand dollars on my cats (I have 10) in just the past month so I don't want to jump to conclusions.

She's about 12 weeks old and has all the vaccinations she can receive at this point. When we got her she had a horrible URI that the vet was treating her for but after 2 rounds of antibiotics it cleared up. Now for the past 2 days she has discharge coming out of her eyes. It looks like its just mucus and it doesn't seem to be affecting her in any way. I know cats hide being sick very well, but she is eating fine, using the litter box, playing and purring. I've seen cats with their eyes crusted over from mucus and that doesn't seem to be happening to her. There's obviously something wrong, but I'm wondering if I should wait it out to see if it clears up on its own, or bring her in.

Like I said, I usually run to the vet at the first sign of illness, and if I thought this was life threatening she would have been there already, but I thought I'd see if I could at least get some opinions on if it seems like something requiring medicine or if it will clear up on its own.

Her eyes aren't red and they don't appear to be irritated in any way, other than the discharge. So...is this looking like I have to take a trip to the vet? The only other time I've dealt with eye issues is when one of my cats had conjunctivitis, but his eyes were red and watery. I also had a small kitten years ago who I found with his eyes all crusted over and that turned out to be part of a URI. When it cleared up, I never saw any discharge afterward. So out of my 10, I've never had one with eyes looking this way.

Why not give your vet a call tomorrow morning? They can decide, though they'll probably want to see her.

If it were one of mine, it would be in ASAP - of course I also have a houseful and don't want a bunch of sick cats.

Yeah, I'm definitely going to call tomorrow morning. I just googled "kitten eye discharge" after posting this, and now I'm more worried. I didn't find anything that made it sound life threatening, but I found enough to be more worried than I was.

I don't think it's anything too serious right now.
Chances are it's just that the virus you kitten has is flaring up. Ask them to make sure it isn't herpes - though other viruses are lifelong and can cause some similar issues.

Chances are she'll either get something for her eyes and/or another round of antibiotics.
