Mixed feelings

We're planning on taking Flambe back to the shelter today. I hope the time we have been fostering him has calmed him down enough to show well. If he has any more problems at the shelter, we'll have to foster him on a fairly permanent basis and just keep him on Petfinder, hoping someone will come in asking for him.

He is a beautiful cat, and a hoot to have around the house. He's made up well with Ella and Sterling, although he still goes out of his way to go around Punkin.

He would make a great companion for some lonely person. He likes attention, he's bouncy and active, he wants to be wherever the people are (except on the bed), and he is just spectacular to look it.

And I'm beginning to think he's older than he looks. He's still a very small cat (not much more than 5 lbs), but he has adult teeth and doesn't seem to have grown much since we first met him.

And blue eyes to die for.

We'd adopt him, but we're at our legal limit, and if he's here, we can't help any other cats at the shelter.

Oh he is STUNNING! I'm sure he'll be adopted in no time.

I always feel the same way with my fosters. As much as I wish I could adopt them all, I can let them go knowing I can continue to help more. Teyah was the exception... She wormed her way in.

We had one here we called "baby face". He looked exactly like Flambe. He had a very, well, babyish face. Due to his appearance/size, when he first came in I guessed him to be about 6 months old. Turns out he was 2 years old, just petite & always going to look like a baby!

Was he neutered before ending up in the shelter? If not, he'd be under 18 months or so cause he shows no signs of tomcat jowly-ness.

Legal limits are stupid.

But given how cute he is, hopefully someone will want him soon. Pointed cats attract people, especially flame/cream points that are seen less often.

Awwww! He's just adorable!! I'm sure someone will come along soon to adopt him. Who could resist?

Many for Flambe in finding his forever home!

I understand the mixed feelings part of it very well. But he is gorgeous and should easily find a home having had some "tutelage" in your house!

He's sure the looker. If anything I hope it gets him a new home soon.

Maybe he's just going to be a small cat? Aya really hasn't gotten that much bigger than her spay weight at 5 1/2 months.

Oh, yeah, we took him to the vet and had him tutored.

Or something like that.

Dottie took him to the shelter today. She was so not happy about it!

I am sorry you are going through this Mike ... I truly don't know how you do it...
I know there are better things to say, and that would probably be the politically correct thing to say, but my only attempt to foster failed terribly (that was Hope), as I just couldn't trust anyone to take care of that little ex-feral girl like I do...
I know it is not the case with your little boy.... I also know that you are attached to him, and that the last thing you and Dottie want to see is him in a cage... So I understand the mixed feelings very well...
I admire foster parents for having that strength... I wish I had it in me...
Good luck Mike...

Well, we have a "NO PTS" notation on his paperwork, so if he has a problem, we will take him back and just hold him for anyone who wants to see him.

By the way, I'm thinking the little guy (6 pounds) may be full grown.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that Flambe hasn't found his forever home yet. Sending strong vibes that he will soon. He's gorgeous!

Well, bad news. At least, I guess it's bad. Flambe was so fractious at the shelter, that they asked me to bring him back home.

He was a totally different cat there. Even I couldn't hold him without him growling, lunging, swatting, and almost biting me. It must be the smells at the shelter; that's all I can figure.

So, he's available for adoption, but if someone wants to see him, the shelter will have to call us and have us bring him down.

Ella and Sterling are looking happier, though.

Some cats just cannot handle the shelter environment. At all. At least he's lucky enough to have someplace "safe" to go while waiting for a home.

Sending adoption his way!

Oh poor baby... it must been so stressful for him...
How is he doing back home? Is he calmer already?

Awww, what a prince he is. Sorry he is having a hard time finding his home

Poor fellow.

He was probably afraid/overwhelmed of all of the smells of different animals and being in a strange place. I hope he finds a home soon.

As I said, he's a totally different cat here.

I brought him home and let him out of the carrier. He hit the ground on the bounce, took a couple of fast laps around the house, said hello to Ella and Sterling, and settled down to his usual hyper gotta see everything self.

It's got to be the smells at the shelter.

Is it possible that you could "foster" him on a permanent basis? He's such a beautiful boy. I'm sorry that it didn't work out at the shelter, but maybe Flambe is already thinking that you're his forever Dad? As I recall, there are some issues with keeping him. You're at your kitty limit? But you can continue to "foster" him?

I hope he can get a forever home.

I'm sure there will come a day when we either have to adopt him or take him to the shelter, knowing full well that the outcome there will probably be the big needle in the back room. We would adopt him before that.

What he desperately needs is a home with someone who is lonely and needs company, or a home that has some fairly new kittens. He's a hoot to have around, but he wants to be where the people are. Unless he can entice Ella or Sterling into tussling with him.
