Yup. America's all about fun fun fun. The modern American youth wants his/her paycheck to come from fun fun fun.

That's not reality.

Balance is a beautiful thing, but when you take a brutally honest look at American culture, it ain't quite there.

Tiger owes his wife a lot more than an apology, but I don't feel it was necessary to apologize to the public. That being said, I do see the point of the poster who said that his affairs publically embarrassed his wife and family and he deserved some of the same.

I have a question. In his apology he said something about being wrongly accused of using preformance enhancing drugs. To which performance was he referring, the one on the golf course or ...?

well imagine all of a sudden he's playing some "important" golf tournament and the vibe is "business as usual" as if nothing happened and no apology is given. it would be a 2-ton elephant in the room.

think about it. that would be weeeeeeiiiiirrrrrd

so in that sense, he did owe himself and his fans a strategic apology

True. The apology did benefit him.

Since I'm saying that I do have to also say that I felt some sense of sincerity from him.

Would you believe that our local channel interrupted the Olympics to show his apology live? I was very ticked off at that.

No he shouldn't have apologized. He owes his family an apology. He owes nothing to the general public.

Boy I am I ever sick of hearing about Tiger Woods!! And that apology (I only saw it because DH was glued to the TV) was just awful.

That's a good point. That must have been such a nightmare for Elin to go through.

True. The golfing world certainly expected some kind of statement, and I'm sure his sponsers needed one too.

Again, if the public weren't so starved to live vicariously through "stars" and famous people, the media would not have reported this domestic incident which in turn would not have been embarrassing to his wife.

We all need to get lives of our own and stop panting for news of celebrities and buying the rags that report on those lives.

yup, sponsors too (they have the moo-lah dontcha know)

i'm sick of hearing about him and seeing his mug. come to think of it, i shouldn't even post in this thread -- it's just venting i guess. i predict he will donate to a few foundations or possibly create one of his own and then everything will be hunky dorry ugghhh That whole "Great American Comeback" is so Drew Barrymore and so played out --yet America eats it up with a spoon. Not me.
