My old ipod, it's a 30 gb ipod video...
It's looong out of warranty, I bought it in 2006 or 2005, whenever ipod videos first came out, and the battery life was down to 2 hours, so I decided to change the battery myself and bought a new battery.
Well, the ipod still works although I cracked the screen and it looks kinda ugly, but the new battery will not hold power at all.
I bought the battery off of ebay from a seller with 99% positive feedback from two million people...so I just dont' see how the battery could be fake or a scam...
I probably did something wrong, I will break it apart again tomorrow and try it with the old battery and see if there is a difference...It's soo frustrating though because the thing breaks apart so easily once I open it.
I have my new ipod touch so it's not like I have no music, but I was planning on giving this one to someone.
Has anyone changed an ipod's battery? How did it go?

Nuh uh...might give me away!
My husband has, on the same model as you, I think. He bought a kit that came with a tool to pry the iPod apart and he carefully replaced the battery in it. It's possible you got a dud battery, or the seller is selling junk.

He bought it from an online site that specializes in Apple replacement parts, including batteries.

I'm sorry that happened.

When I was looking for my ipod, my son warned me to stay away from ebay for it and for its batteries. I asked him why (b/c I use ebay for a lot of things) and he said that often people will sell bad batteries and you don't know it. He also told me that people may sell an ipod with hardly any battery life left.....and they are expensive to have a new battery installed. That's just his opinion.
