You know life is short. I. myself, don't really feel like surrounding myself with people who aren't as crazy about cats as I am. In my job I meet new people every day (whether I want to or not). So if I meet someone I think has that "friendship potential" I just "cut to the chase" and "get to the point" with this question, Do you love cats?". I can always spot the fakers. We all can with it comes to this. Look, if I have to smile, and endure people asking me if I have children-then I am coming right back at them with the cat question. Now am I crazy? YES. Crazy about cats. So I am curious about how long you all know a person before you bring up your favorite feline? I guess I'm just getting a little weird sitting here with 12 feet of snow outside my door..

My love of cats is always pretty obvious and everyone who even remotely knows me knows of my love for them. Cats are a major topic of conversation for me, especially where I foster and am involved in rescue. I always bring it up because I am always trying to find potential homes for fosters.
One thing I'm glad of though, is of joining Ca-r-ma (Cat Rescue Maritimes) because these are all people who love cats as much as I do, so I'm surrounded by other "crazy cat people".

I don't really care for non-cat people, but I can deal with them as long as they aren't cruel to cats (or any other animals). I'm not much a dog person, but I despise anyone who hurts one.

I honestly haven't found too many people who love cats as much as DH and I do (except on this site). I am fortunate that my in-laws are cat folk. When I walked into a new nurse's office and saw a framed picture of her cat, I liked her immediately. She could have been the most obnoxious person at work, but I would have still been her friend.

My best friends are the ones who love cats. The rest I just tolerate.

There you go!

Although I do have a GF who isn't really a cat person (she does like our kids, though). She's not much of a dog person either, although they do have a dog. The dog is more "his" dog than "her" dog and I think she gets a little jealous sometimes. I think she's the only friend I have who doesn't care to have animals in her home. She really does seem fine with ours and will allow them to flop in her lap, not that she has much of a choice in the matter....our kids don't care if you like them or not, you walk into our house and your lap automatically belongs to them. It's one of the RugCats' Rules of the House, I guess.

I can't imagine how many questions I would ask before I get to the "Do you love cats?" one.

For me, I can see asking about pets in general to fill some dead air, but not being in love with cats is not a deal breaker for me. Dealer's choice, of course.

I didn't even have to ask Russ the man I have been dating about cats. On our very first date I asked if he had any children since he had been married before and he said yes, I saw a red light flashing right there. I said, do you have any pictures of them and he took out his wallet and showed me three beautiful cats, those are his children. I was so happy to see this
I laughed out loud. Their names are Huey, Duey and Louie the name of Donald Duck's nephews if I remember correctly. He adopted these kits after his divorce since he was brought up with cats in the house. How lucky am I

You are extremely lucky my DH doesn't really like cats that much, they just tolerate HIM
Al my friends are cat lovers and love my cats, my mum is cat mad and so is my nan, we talk about cats quite alot
My next door neighbour laughingly (before we fell out with him) thought it would be funny to say he hates cats and would hit one that came in his garden, well I can't tell you my response but we don't talk to him anymore and have had alot of to do's with him

I have pictures of my cats all over my "wall" at work, so I think they know how I feel about them.

Most people know me because they have heard of my cats and our success. I don't wait two minutes before I tell people about my obsession and No I don't socialise with people who dislike cats
