Hello all,
Our family is just about to bring home two 2yr old Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest cats that we are rescuing from the local Animal Control. The cats, "Romeo", and "Chandler", were scheduled to go for the "big sleep" today, after being taken off the list a couple of times because the staff found them so friendly (as these big "dog cats" usually are). Romeo will be coming home tomorrow, and Chandler (who has a Kennel Cold and will likely need some mats shaved) will be coming the following week.
A couple of questions here:
1) The vet says that we must wait for 2 weeks between the Rabies shots and the "Mr. Fixit" operation. I'm no stranger to cats, but have never had "unfixed" cats. What are we to expect once we get them home as far as territory marking is concerned?
2) We saved "Buttons", our previous cat, by breaking into a locked ground-floor apartment where she had been abandoned when her previous owners skipped out on their rent. We had her a couple of weeks and then we got "Marco", a super-friendly and big Norwegian Forest cat, because my wife thought that Buttons was missing her siblings (much to my disagreement). As soon as Marco emerged from the cat carrier, Buttons pounced on him and had him pinned under the bed for a week. As Romeo will be home a week before Chandler....are we in for the same rolling war? Is there anything (such as clipping claws, keeping the cats locked in separate rooms, etc.) that anybody would advise?
Thanks,
Steve
