Of all the kitties in your whole life...
I love kitty questions
(I'll do my kitties & my mom's (Jasmine & Abilene) since we all live together and all were origionally mine.)

1. Who is/was your heart kitty? Velvet- she was the first cat I ever adopted and I've had her since I was a little girl! She is still such a little ham too! I just love my sweet girl.

2. Who is/was the silliest? the mushiest? the grumpiest?
Sweetest- Velvet (That cat has my heart!!!
She sleep on the pillow beside me every night and always has one little paw touching my face when she sleeps so she knows I'm there.)
Silliest- Kojak...most definitely!

Mushiest- Jasmine
Grumpiest- Abilene
Most Skiddish- Isabella

3. Who is/was the most challenging? in what way? None of them were easy to be honest. All were rescues....most had been abused...and all took a LOT of work.

-Kojak was a challenge in the beginning as he was a VERY ill baby! I bottlefed him and his littermates. They were one of the most sick litters I've ever rescued. We delt with ringworm, coccidia, feline herpes, etc....at one point I thought I would loose them all- Kojak was the sickest of the bunch too...for those of you who are older members, you may remember the posts where I thought the little guy was going to loose his eye at one point. I'm very glad that they all got homes though eventually and recovered! Kojak was the last one left behind in the litter and the most needy- I just coudln't part with him!
He is an everyday challenge as I constantly have to clean his eye/nose on one side of his face (turns out the eustacian tube is shortened in him and has deformed the way his eye/nose works.)

-Jasmine is challenging in the sense that I've had to deal with her comming to me morbidly obease- it's caused issues with her using the litter pan (or NOT using it) and hygeine, and weight loss.

-Isabella in the sense that I've had her since she was a kitten, but before I got her- her breeder severely beat her (broken ribs, etc)it took months for me to even get her to play or willingly let me pet her. I am the only human she lets mess with her now.

-Abilene I've had since she was a few days old. She was from the first full litter I ever rescued. (They almost drown during a nasty storm we had.) Momma was a feral from what I can tell and even though I was able to socialize all of her littermates and find them homes, Abilene just never had the temperment. I knew she would be euthanized if she were brought to the shelter for adoption, so we kept her.

4. Any purebred among them? what breed?

-Isabella - Odd-eyed Turkish Angora
-Jasmine- torti-point colorpoint shorthair

5. Have you ever thought about adding a particular type of cat, whether actually purebred or not, to your crew? What breed or what specific characteristics would you be looking for? Why?

-I would really LOVE to have another odd-eyed white Turkish Angora that looks like my sweet Isabella (but with the outgoing attitude of a typical angora.) There's just something unbelieveably gorgeous and beautiful about that breed that I adore!
That being said, as much rescue as I do...you never know what I'm going to wind up with!
I am just as content and happy with my beautiful moggies as I am with my purebreeds...each are individual and beautiful in their own ways!

1. Can you drive a motorcicle?...
Yes, I actually can. (ex was a motorcycle cop, so I learned. The only issue that I have is I'm sooo short, it's hard to find a bike that I can reach everything on well.)

2 Worst injury you've ever had?...
Oh wow...hummm- that's a 3-way tie betweeen a 1. shattered tailbone 2. running injuries to my knees from when I used to run competitively 3.being in physical therapy for my neck/back after someone totaled my car.

3. Do you love where you live?...
I hate it to be honest. Everywhere you look there is grafitti, violence, and death. Every night on the news you hear more tragic stories about people being killed in this area. I love Memphis, but the part of town that I'm in is NOT safe. I don't even walk my puppy out here...he goes in the backyard. If I want to walk him, I drive 15 minutes away to a safer park. I'm counting down the days till I move again and can get into a safer area. I stay with my boyfriend Jack a lot though so it helps...it's soooo much safer and nicer in the area of town he lives in.

4. How many TVs do you have in your house?....
3. One in the living room, one in my mom's room my sis gave her, and one in my room from my old house that I never watch (have issues with tv's in the bedroom, so I wind up listening to my radio more than I watch it
)

5. Who is your loudest friend?...
Mine and Jack's mutual friend John!! First time I met him I thought he was drunk....I later on found out that he doesn't even drink...he's just very spaztic and crazy! Sweet guy though.

6. Do you have any pets?(apart of your kitts of course
)…....

Of course!
- 3 dogs currently. (2 (Hagan & Dixie-was my grandma's till she passed away) are mine, one is my mom's.(flowerbelle)) and more fishtanks that I can keep track of!

7. Does someone have a crush on you?...
Jack!

8. Your favorite book(s)?
The Bible, Romeo & Juilet, Dawn, Night, The 5 Love Languages, Fireproof, Pride & Prejudice....I have a lot! Pretty much anything by Shakespeare is fair game as I love plays!

9. Do you collect anything?... anything Giraffe!!!!! I also collect metal crosses, handpainted bobblehead turtles, and lip gloss (that's not intentional, I just have a lot!)

10. What song do you want played at your funeral?
Aside from several beautiful hymns I like, -Temorary Home- Carrie Underwood, Go Rest High on That Mountain, and Sissy's Song (they played that at my Nannie's funeral and it was beautiful.)

Nikki, you're cracking me up!

OK, let's see... (Fran always gets me going on food, and we didn't eat dinner yet so....)

If you've ever eaten the following types of food, what's your favorite dish?

Italian - I'm guessing lasagna?
Mexican - I know you've had, but you didn't say your favorite....
then...

Greek?
Morrocan?
French?
Vietnamese?
Chinese?
Japanese?
Thai?
Cajun/Creole?

And NOT food related

Have you ever been and did you/do you enjoy...

Roller skating/blading?
Ice skating?
Water skiing?
Jet skiing?
Camping? (Doesn't seem like your thing?
)
Sailing?

Do you know how to do any kind of ballroom dancing?

Have you ever seen a rainbow?
A shooting star?
A tornado (in real life)?
A water spout?

Jewelry next:

Gold or silver?
Favorite stone?
Favorite piece?

What's the oldest thing you have in your possession? (besides like a rock or something!)
What's your favorite possession and why?

...and I'll leave it at that for now.

Couple of quick ones...

What do you do for R&R...

-- At home...

-- Outside the home...

Which of these activities/endeavours is the most fun? Which is the most refreshing? Which feeds your soul?

Haha glad I could make you laugh!

If you've ever eaten the following types of food, what's your favorite dish?

Italian - I'm guessing lasagna? -You guessed correctly! My homemade lasagna is my favorite!!
I normally make two every Christmas- 1. spinach and the other meat (and whenever else my family begs for it
) I am also a Giada de Laurentiis freak- so recipe of hers I'm always up for trying!!!! (sans shrimp or mushroom- ick!) I LOVE her recipes!!!!

Mexican - I know you've had, but you didn't say your favorite....
then... ---- To be blunt, the are of town I live in is often called "Mexico Memphis." Safety wise, it's not good, but food wise- omg! It's awesome!! All of my neighbors are from Mexico, and they're awesome! They're always bringing over dishes they come up with and inviting me over to try out new recipes with them! Nothing "Mexican" I cook in my kitchen comes close to being as good as what they make! I'm constnantly in their kitchens trying to learn how to cook my Mexican dishes like they do
My neighbor Diana lives on the other side of the duplex from us...she makes this awesome drink called "Mexican Fruit Punch"- it's a holiday drink ment for Christmas, but we drink it all of the time lol
She puts guava fruit, papaya, apple, cinnamon, bamboo shoots, etc in it- sounds weird, but it's AMAZING! It's likes a spiced cider with the most amazing fruits in it! As far as food goes- nothing made in a resturant can remotely come close to being as good as what my neighbors make (they make their stuff from scratch). I think true Mexican enchiladas are my absolute favorite!!
I also LOVE steak fajitas!!

Greek? Lamb!!!!! I LOVE Greek food!!!
Ohhh my goodness there's nothing better!!
There's some 'hole in the wall' Greek resturant downtown off Beale Street that has the most amazing Greek Salad & Lamb/Rice ever! There's also another place near my school that has amazing Greek & Middle Eastern food that I love as well....they have this wrap that has cucumber, tomato, onion, lamb, and some kind of sauce on it that's to die for!!

Morrocan? I've only had Morrocan food a handfull of times, but I always liked what I got! The only recipe I've ever tried at home though wound up being really good! It was this one for a Moroccan Beef Meatball Tagine. It's yummy!: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/fo...-Tagine-356751

French? I prefer to cook more than I do bake...as far as French cooking recipes go, I really like Boeuf Bourguignon (it's a beef stew, I don't use mushrooms in mine though as I despise them!) I prefer French desserts to cooking though...so if I want something French, it's typically a pastry or dessert from a local resturant.

Vietnamese? Pho Tai and some of the hot pots!!! I LOVE Vietnamese food!!! I can cook it pretty well too!

Chinese? Sesame Chicken, REAL pork/chicken fried rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Egg Flower Soup (Egg Drop Soup)

Japanese? OMG!!! Heaven!!!!
I love Japanese food (aside from Sushi- yuck!) There's a resturant near my school called "Sakura" that I go to with my girlfriends once in a while. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is their beef terriaki - it's amazing!!
They make their own terriaki sauce and everything else that comes with the main course if made from scratch.

Thai? Chicken Satay - when I make it at home, this is the recipe I use. It's good!! http://thaifood.about.com/od/thairec...hickensate.htm

Cajun/Creole? Gumbo!!! (but hold the shrimp please!! ick!)

-----My dear, you forgot to ask about Southern food!
--------

And NOT food related

Have you ever been and did you/do you enjoy...

Roller skating/blading? Roller skating was fun when I was little! Roller blading was traumatizing and I almost broke a leg lol...so I'll pass on the latter!

Ice skating? Love it!! When I went on a trip to Chicago in middle school, we go to do the "Skate on State" thing and that was awesome! I also got to ice skate a few times here in Memphis before they cloesd down the mall that used to have a skate rink in it. If you want to skate now, you have to drive down to Mississippi.

Water skiing? Oh yeah!!!!!

Jet skiing? Even better!!! I LOVE Jet skiing!!!!!!

Camping? (Doesn't seem like your thing?
) Heavens No!!!:
Have you lost your mind??? That involves bugs and weird weather and creepy crawly things!!!
The closest I ever plan to come to "camping" is a cabin with indoor plumbing, running water, a kitchen, and heat/air conditionig
I am NOT the outdoorsy type
I wouldn't last 5 minutes without freaking out and wanting to go home!
Not to mention, bugs LOVE me- The last time I went to the flying field with Jack one night during the summer for a few hours to watch the stars and have a picnic, I wound up with 64 mosquito bites (while wearing bug repellant w/ deet!!!!) and an emergency trip to the doctor for cortizone shots and creams!! I am NOT designed for camping that does not involve a nice hotel lol

Sailing? Never been, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go!!!!
I love anything that involves water!

Do you know how to do any kind of ballroom dancing? Yes!

Have you ever seen a rainbow? Yes

A shooting star? A couple

A tornado (in real life)? Unfortunately several. One in Oklahoma while visiting cousins, and 2 here in Memphis

A water spout? Nope

Jewelry next:

Gold or silver? I'm super allergic to Gold...so it has to be silver or platinum!

Favorite stone? Emeralds & Diamonds! (My birthstone is a Ruby though)

Favorite piece? The necklace Jack gave me for Christmas.

What's the oldest thing you have in your possession? (besides like a rock or something!) - A picture of my family from the 1800's when they still lived in Russia. It's really neat! (Really needs to be restored though!)

What's your favorite possession and why?

The pocket watch that belonged to my Pop (my Russian grandad). He used to let me play with it all the time when I was little and it was left to me when he passed away. It means more to me than any money ever could!

What do you do for R&R...

-- At home... Put on my PJ's, make some hot tea, and get on facebook/TCS and watch tv.

-- Outside the home... Go to the petstores with Jack. We just have a blast walking around the different pet stores / shelters and planning out what we want to get for our fishtanks now and for our future home someday

Which of these activities/endeavours is the most fun? Flying with Jack -it's soo fun!!! I can't wait for my motion sickness issues to go away so we can go fly again soon!!

Which is the most refreshing? holding all of the little babies my friends and family members have. Nothing makes me smile bigger

Which feeds your soul? fostering animals in need and working with patients to help save lives- I start clinicals on Tuesday!!! YA!

Actually, I didn't ask because you already told us! Fried pickles and your mom's buttermilk cornbread (for which I'd like the recipe BTW).

That's how we wound up in the RV, actually.
Gary had done enough "camping" in the army, and he wasn't going anywhere without plumbing, air conditioning or heat - and a BED. It all started because I wanted just to go camping for a couple of weeks.
AND... Gary is the exact same way when it comes to bug bites/mosquitos! ...except the cortisone shots - he only needs a heavy dose of pred from poison ivy.

OK.... stealing this one from Chris (Snake_Lady), tell us 25 things about yourself.

Oh yes, my mom's cornbread is the best!!!
(I may be partial though
I will ask her for the recipe so I can share it!) Fried pickles...omg now I want some!!
If it wasn't almost 2am here I would really consider a trip to Huey's

As far as camping goes- omg....ick!!! A cabin with full amenities is about as far as I'll go
Gary's got the right idea!

Ok onto the 25 Things:

1. I'm slightly obsessed with giraffes. If I could get away with having one as a pet...I would
(I'm serious!)

2. I dislike mushrooms!

3. I have a German Shepherd named Hagan and a Daschound named Dixie

4. I LOVE Claude Monet paintings!! I have several replicas in my home!

5. Although I have have 9 fishtanks, more fish than I can count, and have been fishkeeping since I was a small child- I am horrified at the thought of my fish actually touching my hands!!! I love my fish and I am constantly adding on to my tanks and working on them, but I do NOT want my fish touching me whatsoever...it really freaks me out
I always wear huge aquarium gloves to avoid my fish touching me
One time I forgot though and went to fix a plant in my fancy goldfish tank....only to have Fred (the biggest one) come up to my hand and try to eat my finger (he thinks everything is food.) I screamed soo loud my poor mom came running in there and then busted out laughing when she realized what happened.

6. I love tiger lilies!! They are my favorite flowers.

7. My full name is Lydia Nichole (all southern girls have two names haha). I used to go by "Nikki" a lot because everything had issues pronouncing my first name and always called me "Linda" instead of "Lydia". My family and Jack call me Lydia, but most of my friends call me "Nikki"

8. I put ketchup & mustard on just about everything. Steak, meatloaf, and fried chicken get ketchup. I don't care if it's the most exquisite steak in the world...it's just not "finished" until I put ketchup on it
(I use mustard for baked chicken and pork chops
)

9. I'm obsessed with Lush Cosmetics www.lush.com (that's putting it lightly!)

10. I have a wonderful boyfriend named Jack

11. I plan to finish up the requirements of Youth Villages once I graduate so that I can do foster care

12. I have all future baby names picked out, organized, and color-coded

13. My favorite song is "When I Come Around" - Green Day

14. I broke my sister Kimmy's nose twice when I was little (once by accident, once definitely on purpose with a blue baseball - i had good aim! Please note I was very provoked both times and definitely got in trouble both times). It's kinda funny now because we're best friends.
Poor Kimmy

15. I grew up on a farm when I was little. I miss it a lot! We had goats, chickens, ducks, roosters, all sorts of fun stuff!!

16. I can't ride a bike....never learned.

17. I have 8 piercings (but no, i'm not a freak!) - 3 in the bottom of each ear, my belly button, and my nose. No tattoos though.

18. I'm a lisenced florist. I put myself through design school when I was 17 and have been designing ever since. I love it! One of my life goals is to work in a hospital for a long time and eventually retire and use the money I saved to open up my own flower shop! In the mean time, I still do a ton of designing out of home and love it!

19. I have fostered over 300 cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens and used to work for animal control as a vet tech. (I save pictures of all my precious foster animals!
)

20. I'm currently in school for Respiratory Therapy. I'm specializing in cardiovascular & neonatal/pediactric respiratory therapy! I start clinicals next week!!
I'm really looking foward to getting to help save and improve lives!

21. I spent my first few years of college as a music industry (recording technology) major. My concentrations were vocal preformance & piano (I have been singing since I was little and was trained in classical voice and opera & I've been playing piano since I was 3), I also play percussion, clarinet, and guitar. I LOVE music! It will always remain a huge passion of mine

22. I'm obsessed with fried pickles and ranch dressing

23. I hate driving on the interstate and will avoid it at all costs! (Same with making left hand turns without a turn light)

24. I have 12 (4 of which I just found out about that belong to my step sister/ stepbrother) nieces and nephews, 4 foster nieces, and 3 great nieces/nephews! I'm only 24 people!!!!!

25. The past few years have been a whirlwind for me! I went through a very abusive relationship/divorce with my ex a while ago. I went from being left with absolutely nothing to starting over again from scratch. It was hard, but I learned how to survive and thrive. I also learned that good friends (far and near) are the most amazing blessings a girl can have in life! I also learned how to take those bad experiences (abuse, domestic violence, etc) and turn them into something good (advocating for women and children, starting a new happy life for myself, etc!). I started going back to school for a field I LOVE, and I've had the blessing of helping several women leave abusive relationships and get help which in turn helped ALL of us heal!

Best of all, I found the absolute love of my life when I wasn't even looking and had given up on men!!!
Jack is the most amazing blessing I could ever want! Everyday he tells me I'm beautiful and he loves me, and everyday he makes me smile! It'll be a year in May and I couldn't be happier or more in love!
I cherish every minute with him! / I also learned the people I can trust and the people I can't throughout the past few years. I've adopted an amazing dog, a beloved senior kitty (which I only had a few months before she passed), lost 2 beloved family members, gained 4 beautiful foster nieces and a gorgeous new second cousin, and couldn't be happier!
I've learned everything really happens for a reason and that the way you react determines your happiness in a huge way. Life flies by...my goal is to survie & thrive

Thankyou for all of the fun questions Rigel & everyone else! It was a blast having the opportunity to be the Spotlight for a little while! I hope the next person enjoys it as much as I did!.
I was a little busy with school, so here ae the answers to the last few questions a little late

1.- How many cats have you ever had in your enterely life?
More than I can count
I've had over 300 foster kittens/cats, plus the ones I've adopted over the years.

2.- could you tell us the name of the list above?
I'll tell you the name of the kitties I have the luxury of living with now
: Velvet, Isabella, Kojak (those 3 are mine) and Abiliene & Jasmine are my former kitties that belong to my mom now.

3.- Do you have any preference about of Breeds of cats?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Turkish Angoras!!!!!
They're just soo gorgeous!!! But, that being said, I love moggies every bit as much!
