If anyone is as outraged over the cost of cat condos here is a website to try for those handy with tools. It provides you with a blueprint, step by step instructions and a list of materials.

Ooo that kicks butt! My sister and i were talking about making cat trees since the store-bought are so expensive! We got a 2-story cylindrical kitty condo for $35 at PetSmart, only to find it's twin at K-Mart for $15.99 hehe.

If anyone knows of any more plans for cat houses on the web, please share!

I have built one which they had on their site and have built several others for our use and for our friends. Here are some more sites. The first one listed is one of the ones I built.

I had 4 others listed but when I checked them they no longer worked. I have plans here that I printed which the links no longer work if anyone wants them. I can scan and send.
For you adventurous ones you will find the savings to be worth the effort. The first piece I built (first link above) cost me about $100 for materials but I also had stuff like sisal, rug and some plywood left over to start another project. Cost in the store would be about $300 or more. Have fun!
