Our cats are collectively known as the RugCats. We got Hydrox first. Then Banshee (aka the Queen B) came along; she was about five weeks old. When Whisper came into our house, she would only sleep on the rug in front of the door in the kitchen. We actually put that girl on the couch; she would fly off the furniture like it was torturing her. We think she wasn't allowed to be on furniture in her other home....we know she and Bootser weren't allowed to be in the house much at all; her first mom had just bought new furniture and didn't want to deal with the cats. So out they went. And right into our house. Whisper would only sleep on that rug and she became known as the RugCat. And all of the other cats are now The RugCats.

Anyway, Whisper ended up having kittens in a laundry basket in our bedroom. The RugCats' dad (that's DH) stayed by her side as she was giving birth while the RugCats' mom (that's me), stayed in the hallway with Banshee and Hydrox. Five kittens took us to eight cats in the house. Since then, we've loved and lost cats .

But there will always be RugCats in our house. We can't imagine our lives without RugCats. (Oh and BTW, Whisper? Well, she now owns the house and everything in it!)

Do your cats have a collective name?

too funny because i was going ask this question however you beat me to it.

my cats have the same surname. Cat.
Penny Cat and Daisy Cat. Before I got Daisy I would often calll Penny "Mrs. Cat" (I still call her that sometimes)

I rarely call them by the full name, Penny Cat or Daisy Cat - If I do, it usually means they're being mischievious

The tribe obtained their name from the musical, "Cats". They are collectively known as "The Jellicle Tribe". Each one has a descriptive name, either for appearance or mannerisms, and a Jellicle surname (named after one of the dancers from the musical)

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
The Demons! Thats for the cats and the dog. I seem to have the most mischievious animals or the dumbest animals ever created! I mostly just call Hercules and GiGi the demon duo those two are nothing but trouble when they are together.

Since I usually take cats in pairs, each pair tends to wind up with their own surnames.

Muddy and Koko (along with their 2 littermate brothers Jake and Elwood) are simply known as the "Nino's". They were orphaned at 10 days and the couple that adopted Jake and Elwood are travel companions of ours. As we laid on the beach in Mexico, we jokingly came up with the name Nino. Since they live west of us, ours are the "Nino's East", and theirs are the "Nino's West".

Another pair that I adopted out was known as the Igamu's. I have no idea if the spelling is right, but Igamu is Lakota Sioux for cat (the Sioux don't have a written language for these things so I spell it by pronunciation). Their names were Sage and Dakota, which were appropriate for the native American reference.

Pinky (and his OTB brother Ruby) were known as the "Bruncles". They came from the same feral colony as my Scarlett, and when they arrived, we weren't sure if they were brother's or uncles of Scarlett. So we combined the words. Scarlett is referred to as the "sniece".

Spanky and Oscar are known as the "Little Rascals". We tried really hard to give Oscar a little rascal's name, but none fit. They are still the rascals.

Another feral litter was known as the "Rock Stars". Of course they were named Hendrix, Morrison and Janis. We stopped that line of names when all 3 turned out to have FeLV.

My general name for all of them is "Speedbump". Stumpy has the strongest of the Speedbump genes.

Not very imaginative, but the barn cats are collectively known as Da Killer Kat Klan and that is a danged good thing. Before they came, I was shooting and trapping gophers, shooting starlings (they eat all my fruit) and when I wasnt trying to keep the population of the bad stuff down, was filling gopher holes so the horses wouldnt step in them and bust a leg. Not a gopher left on the yard, very few mice, starling population is down, and there are more good birds. There is the odd pigeon but they don't live long either, not a bad thing because they are flying rats for the most part - if they get into a grain bin, they make a real mess, and foul many many bushels. Together with the house cats, they are classified as Da Kat Mafia, with the Killers being the front line of defence, and Da Lip and his moll, Magpie are the catchers of wayward mice.

Mine used to be known as The Ladies, but since Merlin joined the household it's become The Ladies and a Monkey.
I also frequently call them Kitty Katzes (and yes, I know that Katzes is not the correct plural of die Katze.

In years past when we have several cats, they were dubbed The Thundering Horde. Describes the sound of hungry kitties running across a wood floor after the first clink of the can opener.

Plain & simple - Nat's (Nutty) Cats. I used to dub them by number (the fantastic fourteen), but with fosters my numbers are always changing, so that didn't work for long.

I would guess ours could be known as the WildGang. With Ocicats, they are wild, crazy and fun - even tho they are 100% domestic - they still look and act wild.

Before I took in Salem & her babies, I only had male cats and just called them "the boys". Now, with both males & females in the clan, I just refer to them as "the kids". I guess I'm not very creative.
