I have noticed lately that The Sammycat bites the side of his food bowl more and harder whenever he eats. I know that he has done this for some time and was wondering if I should be concerned that there is a problem with his teeth. If there is no problem with his teeth there will be later on down the road from biting the ceramic dish. What should I do to help him stop this?

He has an appointment in August for his annual check-up and shots. Should I just wait until then to talk to the Vet about this or should I take him in sooner????

It could be that Sammy is stimulating his gums. He doesn't look like a kitten, so it is probably not due to teething. Please take a look at his gums and see whether they look inflamed or whether there is a lot of tartar build up. If you find either, you might want to take him in earlier to be checked because infected gums can lead to many other serious health problems. If his gums and teeth look okay, this behavior could simply be due to him likeing the way it feels when he chews the bowl!

Okay I have checked his teeth and gums. Both look okay to me gums are a nice healthy pink color and teeth do not seem to have an excess build up of tartar. So maybe he does just like the feel of the bowl when he bites it....Strange Cat
