Hey everybody,
I don't know if any of you remember me, I was on here alot at the beginning of last year, and now I'm back
Anyway, I remember the 2009 kitten count, and I thought it might be fun to have one for 2010
What do you guys think?

It depends on the goal of the thread. If the purpose is to highlight the importance of spaying and neutering and the problems of cat overpopulation, that is fine. If the goal of the thread is to say "Yay, kittens, how fun", the thread will immediately be closed.

TCS is a strong proponent of spaying and neutering. Just a reminder of the rules:

2. Please make sure to spay and neuter your cats. Unless you are a professional breeder and your cat is part of a professional breeding program, please educate yourself to the importance of spaying and neutering by the time your cat is 4-6 months old. If you take care of a feral colony, please make sure to do so responsibly by practicing TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) protocols within the colony. By spaying and neutering, you enhance a cat's quality of life and improve their longterm health. You are also proving your love for cats because in acting as a responsible pet owner/caregiver you are minimizing the problem of cat overpopulation.

I stopped doing the 2009 kitten count because it started to cause a lot of mixed reactions. I wondered why bnwalker2 suddenly stopped the 2008 count, maybe that's why. =/ While I think it raised awareness of how many homeless kittens are born, a lot of people thought it was celebratory. I admit, initially I thought it was too, but after tallying so many kittens, it was just sad.

Ya, maybe you're right...some people may take it the wrong way as a "Oh, fun I want to add kittens up there" instead of "this is why you shouldn't breed your cats"
