I pretty much listen to everything and anything from 50s and 60s music to current pop and hip-hop. My CD collection mainly consistes of R&B from the 70s thru today. I do listen to a few country artists; Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill, don't care for male country artists tho? I also listen to rap; Rick Ross, Kanye West (even tho he's a
) hate Lil Wayne and never been a big fan of Jay-Z. Love 80s pop, disco, early 90s alternative. Never been much for metal of any decade, but do like the hard rock of the 70-80s, Pink Floyd is probably my favorite band of all time my dad always listened to that music so I kind of absorbed it

My DH got me a CD for Valentine's Day. It was Susan Boyle???!!!???. I just can't imagine where he came up with that...I mean really! So I went and exchanged it for Kings of Leon. Can you see the difference in music taste there? SUSAN BOYLE???? He would never listen to that in a million years, why would I?

As a musician myself, I have a healthy respect for any and all music...forgive me for this, but some of it is just noise- no offence meant, and I hope none taken-
That being said, my first love is Southern gospel music, but I listen to some of just about everything else, all the way from Classical to folk, oldies thru 80's rock, anything country, Celtic music, bluegrass, etc. I really don't care for heavy metal, with the exception of some stuff that was popular when I was in school, and I hate rap- it gives me a headache, lol!

blueyed girl5946- I love to hear of anyone picking up an instrument and learning to play it...keep it up! Me, I've played the piano since I was 8, tried to learn the guitar, but although I can get the chords, I cannot for the life of me play rhythm......I have to play the lead, lol!

Right now my mp3 player is filled with Beatles, REM, Blur, Elton John (his early stuff only). I also have some random songs I like from Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who, Janis Joplin, Boston... (most of which I like ever since I started playing Rock Band
)

On my laptop I have some Glenn Gould. I like to listen to classical music when I'm doing school work. I don't know much about classical music, but I do love Glenn Gould. I love piano and slightly crazy people

I am loving Lady GaGa these days. I am a big Pearl Jam fan (Eddie Vedder is yummy). I really liked Robert Plant until I waited on him in the restaurant I work at--RUDE. The same with the Red Hot Chili Peppers--VERY RUDE. Does anyone remember Elvis Costello? I got to serve him and he was the nicest, sweetest man!!!--VERY GOOD TIPPER. I just enjoy music. If I like the song then it doesn't matter what genre it is. Also really like the White Stripes..

I can listen to Smooth Jazz one minute and Rob Zombie or Coal Chamber the next. The last 2 years, I've really been listening to country alot.

If it's not Opera, I'll listen to it! Heck, sometimes I'll get on a movie score trip!

I like a wide range, from classic rock, early '60s pop, classical (to a point), but my favorite is probably Celtic/New Age. I listen to a lot of Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Kate Price, and instrumental Celtic. I love the sounds of an Irish penny whistle and a fiddle. I love Queen, REM, Cyndi Lauper, Sarah Maclachlan, and Phil Collins. I could listen to the Mamas and Papas all day.

I refuse to listen to rap, hip-hop, and most country. Never been a fan of the Stones, either.

ditto
i'm more into individual songs than artists. for example i think the "hits" by katy perry, the scissor sisters, etc are delightful, but is the rest of the cd "good"? that kind of thing. i don't have the cash to find out and be disappointed

Wide range of taste here also. Variety is the spice of life baby!

On saturday I went cd shopping and got the new Sade, Tragically Hip and Pheniox albums if that gives you any idea to my range of taste.

Love 80's new wave. Big Radiohead fan. Talking heads comes to mind as a group I listen to often. I love 70's and 80's soft rock.

But I am a child of the 90's so I do like some rap and hip hop. Love the funk! Give me some James Brown baby!

Love classical music. But am not very well versed in the artist and the names of their pieces. Need to work on that.

I mainly listen to music when I am driving around. I just got back into listening when I am at home cooking or cleaning.

In some cases you can find whole albums uploaded on youtube (sometimes leaks before the albums are even out - that makes labels and musicians really mad
).
There are also some sites you can listen to streams for free or for a very low fee.

I also signed up for a CD service that you can pick what you want and you get CD's in your list (kinda like Netflix, but you keep the CD's), for $7 each, once a month. I've been exploring some of my other genres that i just don't have much of... like Reggae and R&B.

Any cd? with full artwork, new? Or is the selection limited?

Sounds like it could be a good way to cheaply build up a collection if there's no hidden fees.

Another suggestion to those wanting cheap cds. Check the labels directly. If it's an indie label often their cds will be a little cheaper. I've gotten cds as cheap as $2 that way before.
There's also cdbaby (indie retailer) that gives a larger percentage (1/2 iirc?) from each cd sale to the artist - so if you're going to be spending money at least it's not all going to the label.

no hidden fees. brand new, full artwork, no shipping. it's not ALL CD's... but they have a decent selection from across the genres. I've gotten Lady GaGa as well as some old motown and such... here's a sampling of what I've gotten recently (you can also order straight as well as the queue shipments): Bob Marley, Eliane Elias, Rihanna, Temptations, Joshua Bell (classical violinist), Bon Jovi, etc....

PM me if you're interested... I don't think TCS mods like it if I just put that out there...

I have regular arguments about music. People say to me you can't hear the words in rap - but that's exactly why I don't listen to much metal. *shivers*

I listen to RNG - including Biggie, 50 cent, Lil Wayne, Ying Yang Twins. I enjoy pop, country and top 40 hits. I also really like KoRn and love Elvis, Dewey Cox soundtrack and my favourite singer is Tina Arena!
