It is Canaval in Brasil!!!!!

Ok folks, this is the real deal .... nothing against Mardi Gras, but... as far as carnaval goes... we got it going on

Anyways, the parades in Rio start tomorrow, but Carnaval starts today... In Salvador, Bahia, as many as 10 million people can be found on the streets dancing at sound of the Trio Eletricos like below (the truck is all speakers, the band goes on top, playing... of course followers of the group are served free beer (seen in yellow shirt) :



In Rio, the Samba Schools do their parades on the Apoteose, which is like a long "stadium" but in shape of a street - see below



The video below is of my favorite School, called Mangueira; it is the official clip for their 2010 song. Every year, the schools choose a theme, and everything is done around this theme, the allegoric cars, the clothes, the music, etc... VERY famous people write the songs, and millions of $$$ are spend every year on the schools... This is no joke...

Brasil is "closed for business" (the only business until then is party!) until Tuesday night , my mom is in Rio, participating in the parades, she does it a lot years - she says it is one of the biggest emotions she has ever felt.

Being close to one of those trios is such a thrill that your body moves you want it or not... Your heart beats with the beat of the percussion... You are at a trance... You just go... go go go...
I highly recommend A carnaval in Brasil to everybody's bucket list! It is definitely an experience. AMAZING. Spectacular.

WOW, looks amazing! I'm not sure how well I'd do in the crowds though... I'm not really a crowd person.

I soooooo want to be in Brazil right now!!!!!!!!! Though I've never been there before, Carnaval in Rio is something I've always wanted to see in person

That looks awesome. Carnaval in Rio is like, the ultimate party. The Samba dancers have amazing bodies. I read somewhere that they have to be very fit to dance the whole parade route.

So my friend, you should to show us some steps of dance!..

Oh yeah... I think it is like a mile and half... Or something like that? And those costumes are HEAVY!!!!
I had to be very careful to choose the right video to place here at the forum LOL - they don't wear much clothes on Rio's Carnaval
