You have dogs that go outside. They can pick stuff up on their feet - as can you with your shoes.

Take a breath and relax. It's not that bad - cats and dogs in worse shape survive roundworms and all of yours are is good shape.
Talk to your vet. It will unfortunately require that all of your pets be treated, and depending on your area - either with a broad spectrum dewormer or with a roundworm specific one twice. You can't rely on OTC dewormers for roundworm unfortunately. Getting the dosage right is just too tricky.

You'll have to do a lot of cleaning during treatment as all it takes is some eggs being ingested.

It's pretty rare to actually see a roundworm adult. The eggs are passed in the stool but the adults like to stay hidden and safe in your pet. What did the worm look like? If it was small and rice looking its actually a segment of a tapeworm usually transmitted by a flea. OTC dewormers don't work so your best bet is to take a stool sample into your vet. They'll be able to tell you exactly what kind of worm it is, how your cats most likely got them and give you meds that will work. It's not very expensive and since some worms can cause health problems for humans (especially kids) it's definitely worth it.

I agree that it is much more likely to be tapeworm, but only your vet can tell. Tapeworm eggs are carried on fleas. The vet will give you meds and flea treatment that is safe as you must get rid of the fleas at the same time, and you may have them in the house even though you have never seen them. Stuff you get from the pet store is never efficient, and may be dangerous, so rely on the vet. Don't worry, these things are very common, and even indoor animals need to be treated regularly, though not as often as those who go outside.

All cats should be wormed regularly, and if two of them are infected it is likely the third is too. So I should take Gabby.

Except for the adult one of my cats puked up 6 weeks ago.

I agree - stool sample and prescription dewormer so you know what you are dealing with and what kind of medicine to use.

Aww, poor things! Definately sounds like tapeworms...As others have said, are you are, I would get them into the vet for some prescription medication!

No worries, it's not life-threatening, they'll be fine! Good luck!

I'll echo the tapeworm vote. They look like little grains of rice or sesame seeds. They stick to everything (hair, clothes, etc) and kind of squish and move around. While they are absolutely disgusting, they're not contagious to you or other animals.

Tapeworms come from ingesting fleas or prey animals.

Your vet will be able to help you out.
