Hello everyone

I was walking my little brother to school this morning and there was a very disressed looking kitten running in and out of the road he nearly got ran over twice, i couldnt bare it had to pick him up and bring him home.

He's all bones has no weight, he has a deep mark where a collars been maybe at a young age and its caused this mark? when i found him though the collar wasnt on.

he doesn't look very big few months maybe, but looks neautred although could be a female but usually ginger cats male? the kittens part white as well on legs and face.

he or she has happy lapped up 2 pouches of hi life food, ive put some flyers up road the street and online,

is there anything else i can do?

it's the sweetest kitten in the world just curled on my lap right now

if no one comes foreward, i feel like homing myself
he seems very happy here. but firstly the point of his owner to find him is important

How exciting!
You're wonderful for taking the kitty in hun.

It's not necessarily a male although most orange cats ARE male, I have seen a few females in my time.

If no one claims the kitty soon you should make a vet appointment to have it completely checked out. Good luck!

hey

i took her to the vet at around 6pm, It's a girl, thought she had abit of a girly face
no micro chip though

he also said she looked thin and mistreated, upset me alittle maybe she never had a loving home,

well stocked up on hilife, and cat litter for now see if i get any calls from the flyers

how do i add picturres? i tried not sure it worked
also how much should i feed her she seems starving but i dont want to overfeed her and upset her probably delicate stomach, so far she's had 3pouches and some biscuits. shes very found of both, both being hilife, i got some kitten ones earlier as before she had a few of my other cats hilife adult, was abit scared of doing that so got kitten ones.

I've took in strays before but never ones as thin as this so dont want to rush her into eating to much and make it worse!

thanks everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxx

by the way i think the name Sunbeam really suits her, shes like a beam of sunny hope

also in the second picture she looks very happy dont you think she went from scared and shaking to purring in my arms!!!!

Awwww, that is so wonderful of you to take in this little kitty!!!!!!!

I would ask the vet about the eating questions.

Have you posted Found Pet ads? You will need to do that - but when you do that, be sure to keep something secret that is a key characteristic trait, that way you don't have someone just claiming the kitty when you are not absolutely sure. I would post Found Pet ads at the nearby vets and online. I would not assume he was abused - things happen and pets escape. What evidence of mistreatment did the vet tell you about? That would be so sad.

for you and the kitty - that there is either a happy owner/pet reunion or that you have a lovely new member to your household.

thank you for the vibes i posted on found cat i had one call but it wasn't her the cat was few years old and they sent me a picture and wasn't her we could tell. thought it was her home at first

well at first i didnt think it was abuse and she got hurt espcaing, but when the vet chekced her over he said her stomach felt alittle out of place as if she'd been kicked or something and a few scars in her fur, and the collar that had been too small for her cut into her neck what im thinking is tohugh she could of been lost for a long long time, and thats how shes got the cuts and the collar cuts. may not of been the owner, i can't accuse that but i worry about that just my initial worry was that someone could of hurt her, i'm very protective of animals

shes resting now, thanks for thwe food advice from vet i gave him a call he said slow and steady wiht some wet food, i have hi life wet food kitten, he said thats good choice, all my cats adore hi life
took them awhile to get onto to it but i managed too mashing it up VERY well

i got her a serperate litter tray as well i thought she may not be comfertable sharing with the simba and missys, they dont use it often they go out alittle in the aftternoon and probably do it then
but i got her a new one just incase to seperate and make her feel more at ease, simba and missy havent rreally taken much notice of her. too much sleeping to be done for them to noitce

thanks for the tips everyone
always appriciate it jogs my memory for things i might be missing

Aw, I love the name Sunbeam! How sweet of you to rescue this little kitty!
And how wonderful of you to get her to the vet.

Was she already spayed? Or are you going to have to take care of that too?

He couldn't tell if she was spayed or not is that normal or should i get a second opinon? what i was going to do is keep her in, and wait for a owner to come foreward if not decide if i'm going to home her which i know will happen how could i not

Then go about having her spayed myself

is this a good idea?

Aw, she's beautiful!

I hope you did not put too much detail on your flyers. Anyone could say she is theirs and take her away, and abuse her some more.

You need to keep some distinguishing feature to yourself for the real owner to identify.

You can call around to the local shelters and vets and see if anyone has posted a lost cat info with them

In fact, if your vet thinks she was abused, I'd take the flyers down and keep her. She looks older than a few months, though, maybe six.

If she goes into heat in the next few months you will know she is not spayed. If she has no heats, then you can assume it's been done.

PS did you have her tested for FeLV/FIV? Don't let her mingle with your other cats until you have.

Oh yes ! the scar makes sense,
shes all tucked in for the night with some dry food and water litter box, seems very content, she hasnt really mingled with my other cats they stay in my room on the bed she's in a room downstairs.

simba and missy never leave my bedroom
big scratch post, cat beds, raidator heater, i'm not sure if it's actually there room
but i find it comferting with cat goodies all around me

she's been curled on my lap all night, thats a good sign right? shes not under any distress.

do you think she'd be alright for some cat nip pillows? i've got some organic willows cat nip sack/pillows, unused.

oh forgot too add i kept a disignish feature of her tail under wraps and out of the photos, it's very sweet and if she was anyones they would know of the feature as i noticed it straight away

Spay scars are not always present. I have one that went in to be spayed - the vet saw no sign of any scar, but got a surprise when they opened her up. He surmised that she must have had a pediatric spay done.

I'd say that kitten is around 6 months old. Depending on how the wound looks on her neck (back or front on her throat?) it could be from another cat grabbing her - such as a tom cat attempting to breed with her if she's not spay.

Any safe cat toys you want to offer are fine. She'll love them.

As for an earlier post saying orange girl kitties are less common. It's about the same. 3 of my 4 orange kitties are girls.

Well, spay scars or lack thereof one way or another are no guarantee. That said, they are definitely worth looking for. The shave is quick and easy - and if it's there and clear, then you know. We had a kitty who had a scar on her abdomen - the vet said it was so jagged he thought it was most likely from an injury. But nope! She was spayed! So while you can have "false negatives," there's also the possibility of a sure positive.

MewMew's is jagged and now Siri has a jagged one too. MewMew's did that because her's got infected.
(and Siri because she had a much larger incision through "spay sway")

If in doubt you can always ask about an ultrasound.

Thanks for all your posts!

I had a little problem with the new kitten I tried to keep my cats apart from the kitten alittle hard when you have a 3year old runbning around opening doors, they didn't seem to get on at all which was a shame, Still no owners come foreward so I rang cats protection she literally lives a 4minute walk from me
love going there!

And she said she would like to take the kitten there try find its home check with her vet about the spaying, I at first felt unsure what to do because I mysle have fallen in love with her.

So this is whats happening now she's at the cats protection but i'm giving her the food and going to see her and feed her everyday
that way missy and simba aren't getting so stressed as they were, the little kitten is happy and not at harm and she can be checked throughly by the cats protection, i thought this was the best idea, I really miss her though, but i've told the lady that if no one comes foreward, I would like to home her here, just the worry of them setting. Simba was submissive and rolled on the floor, Missy was hissing at her and ran off and was sulking in my room,
I hope I did the right thing

How wonderful of you to keep providing her care.

she finds a wonderful furrever home.

I am sure you can make the introductions work if it comes to that ... but you've got your hands pretty full right now!
