Hiall, hope you are all well. I have been suffering with a large goiter and bad pain and general illness for a while now, I have had to fight with my doctors as all my thyroid tests came back normal so they assumed it was nothing. Well after recent events in my family I put my foot down and didn't accept this, my doctor finally referred me to ENT and he has now said he suspects thyroiditis which would explain my pain and illness,it really has been hard and I am now seeing some light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully). I am seeing a consultant at 10.15 am tomorrow and I am really hoping that can help me, I have had this ages now and its stopping me from doing daily things which is so annoying, especially as I have 3 children admy hubby works 60 hours a week.He has had to have the past 3 days off to help me. I ahte being ill and I am frightened as I still do not know 100% that it is thyroiditis, I am a bag of nerves at the minute, if anyone can spare any vibes they would be appreciated.
After all the bad events in my family recently I want to turn this around and ave some good news for once and get on as we need to, you have all been very supportive on here and I hope that if anyone ever needs an ear or a shoulder I can return the favour. xx

Hi, well I went, didn't have to wait to long which was great, I saw the consultant who is also a surgeon, he examined my goiter and said that it is a multi nodular goiter with one larger enlarged nodule?? whatever that means. He put a camera up my nose to look at my throat (wish I had warning
) and then he said he wants me to go for an ultrasound. He told me not to worry and that I will be fine. I really suffer badly from anxiety and he said I am making myself ill. I asked him if he thought it was cancerous and he said he cannot be 100% until the ultrasound but he is sureish from experience that it feels fine and even if it is that I have still not got to worry. He thinks my pain could possibly be thyroiditis and partly stress/anxiety but he really wants me to chill out. Easy for him to say but I do feel a bit more at ease now and he also told me how common goiters are in women.
He wants to see me on 26th feb after my ultrasound to discuss things and he said if its all ok I could still have my thyroid removed if I want to. I am not sure and will wait for the outcome, I am sick of the pain and problems, so in one mind yes I would consider a thyroidectomy but in another its a big op which leaves a big scar so I don't know. I am hoping all is well and he can give me something to shrink it as its pretty noticeable. I think his positiveness was something to go by and his whole attitude was definetely positive, he was really nice. Now I just have to convince my anxiety of this
Oh and all my bloods came back fine which must be a good sign. xx

Yes please don't make yourself sick with worry, but I know how hard that is. I've been there a few times in the last couple weeks.
I am really glad he sounded positive, and i really hope everything works out well. I will be sending you many and hoping for a very positive outcome.

IMO a scar isn't too much to worry about, but the explination on it will get tiresome. I"m lucky, my surgery scars are hidden by my shirt, so... Unless I wear a half shirt (I never do) Nobody sees them. Everyone knows they are there cuz I show them to almost everyone... LOL

Well Keep thinking positive, you have been to the dr, they know something is up, so ... you are on your way to recovery!!

Be safe my friend.
