hi all

I hope you can all understand my english cause i`m from the netherlands
, i am new on this board, and this is my first post (although i was reading on this board for a long time), I have two british shorthaircats, one blue lady and one silver tabby lady, i am trying to begin my own cattery, but i just cant come up with a beautiful name..how did you get your catteryname, and maybe someone who is more creatief as me can give me some suggestions
(starting my own cattery is not just an impulsive idea..but is something i dreamed of for almost 2 years, i recently moved to a bigger house..and finally i am trying to make this dream come true
)

I came up with my cattery name with help from my husband. We live on Spring Dr. and it is on a hill. Hubby said name our cattery Spring Hill. I did not like it. I breed Bengals that look like leopards so I said how about Leopard Hill. And well that how I got my carrty name. LOL

We spend months trying to come up with a good cattery name. We searched websites, dictionarys in the end it was between Imposing,Captivating & Pratzcatz, we decided on Captivating because Persians are the most Captivating breed
just keeping thinking try and add your names together with things, in the end it will come to you!

Good Luck!

I just sent in for my cattery name, my four choices were:

AiYi: I speak chinese and am probably going to be working with orientals, AiYi means first love in chinese.

Alaric: Is a German name for Ruler, I chose the name because it sound nice, not because of the meaning. Basically I was looking for names in different languages when I came across these.

Anevay: is a Native American word for Superior, I, again, chose it more because of the sound than the meaning.

Mosi: Mosi is a navajo name meaning cat.

My prefis SHARADA was a made up name....I just liked the sound. Imagine my surprise to discover there is already a Sharada Cattery in the USA - breeding Persians. That prefix was a mixture of two names - I think SHA from Sharon and ADA from Adam.

You could use a combination of your names or childrens names or cats names. You might think of something very "British" - maybe something like Bristolblu or TrueBrit actually the possibilities are endless.

It is a lovely thing to work on - have fun.

Are you registering with the CFA or another organization? I know with the CFA the name can only be 12 letters including spaces. And it can't contain the name of any particular breed. Also can't use princess, dame, and some other words.

hi

i am not registered with cfa but with a large dutch organisation.
The only rule they have is that the catteryname must be original..meaning no 2 names may look the same.
never knew finding a good name would be so hard

I am trying as hard as i can but i have a lot of things on my mind lately...my grandmother is in the hospital with 2 broken arm after she fell in the shower..and a niece of mine also is in the hospital because there is something wrong with her lungs..both situations are very bad..it looks like they have to be both in the hospital for a long period (8-10 weeks).
and then this fuss about a good catteryname..just want it to be all over

I knew I wanted the name of a Godess. However I had a hard time choosing between Celtic and Egyptian Godesses, but since my breed Devon Rex is a British breed I chose the Celtic. So I only had to choose between the different Celtic Godesses
At the end I had to choose between Arianrhod and Cerridwen, the first name was already taken so Cerridwen it is. And I'm very happy with that cattery name.
