I think I will stick with the Valentine's Day theme.

Today's question, relates to the topic of romance.

What was the most romantic thing you have ever done, and/or had done for you?

or

What was the kindest thing that anyone has ever done for you, or that you have done for someone else?

And I know it's very early, but happy Valentine's Day to everyone, no matter what your status is know that someone out there cares about you and that you are loved because I'm sure each and every one of you is.

Now that truly breaks my heart. I am sorry I did not think of that when I asked the question and will edit my question accordingly. I just thought that even single people might have had romantic experience. I am going to quickly edit that question because I don't want anyone it excluded.

And please excuse any typos that I make as I am relying heavily on my voice to text software and I don't always reread what it writes. So I apologize in advance, for any messed up wordings. Bear with me folks, thank you.

One year I hinted to DH that I wanted a dozen roses for my birthday. Instead of cut roses, he bought me a dozen rose bushes, then built a rose garden to plant them in. The garden was complete with paths, a sundial and an iron bench. This isn't the best picture - the roses are in the background and the garden was so large that we had other flowers in half of it. And anytime I wanted a rose, he would cut a few and put them in a vase for me.

Dana and I had been seeing each other and were going to go to a drive-in theater one night. Well he shows up at my door and asked me to go out back on the deck with him. We do and he says "You know how amazing I think you are, and I want to do this right and officially ask you to be my girlfriend." He the pulls out a single red rose from behind his back.
How could I say no?

Mine was back on our first valentines day together in 2003. He showed up with flowers and we spent the day cuddling and watching movies. He told me he had something else for me but couldn't give it to me yet. Later that day, I got up to go do something and when I came back the lights were off and there was candles lit. He pressed play on the cd player and it was our song. We danced to it and then he gave me the cd. He had made the cd himself and printed a cover for it and everything.
It may have only been a cd and a dance in my bedroom but it was romantic.

My (ex-)boyfriend gave me a My little Pony he had found from a flea market...
We hadn't agreed to be a 'boyfriend and girlfriend' yet, so I thought it was very nice of him.

(I cry on the inside 'coz that's all I've gotten..

we have never really done anything to be honest blaine did take me for a big fancy restuarant (sp) one year woulnd tlet me pay for anything and i got him something very special sonething most people might not do i took a collection of all my favourite love poems and made him a little book with how i thought each poem represented us

we tend to do daft stuff all year really to show each other how much we care for each other rather than just the one day a year people force it in our faces

My Tony isn't a really "romantic" kind of guy, but he does have his moments.
I'll always remember the first Valentine's he actually did something - a little teddy bear holding a heart, and a big coffee mug (because he knows I like coffee) with hearts on it. It wasn't that much, but the fact that he even made the effort meant alot to me.

Then there was the Valentine's Day two years ago when we gave each other the same exact card!
Talk about minds that think alike! LOL!

And, it wasn't Valentine's Day, but once I was doing a play in Brooklyn, and I hadn't seen him for a few months, as he had been away doing a play, and he came to see my show the very day he got back into town. I'll never forget coming out afterwards and seeing him, and running into his arms. I always get that "heart fluttery" feeling when I see him. We spend alot of time apart, but the times together are choice.

This was not Valentine's day, but about 2 hours after meeting DH, he sat me down, took my hand and told me it was love at first sight, and there would never be another woman for him. I was very grateful 6 years later when I finally came to my senses he still meant it. He never even had another girlfriend for over a month. He still does sweet stuff all the time that just melts my heart and makes me realize how lucky I really am to have had him for 25 years.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I think I'm going to have to go with Gary tracking me down after 12 years.

He was in Seattle then, I was in NY. We talked on the phone every day for three months, and then I flew out there on Christmas. We got married the next day, then I think it was 2 or 3 days later I came home... he got his things together. It all fit into his car (he was traveling light those days LOL). When he finally took off, it was into one of the worst snow storms of the decade (like what's been happening in the mid-Atlantic of late!). It was January of 1994. I-80 was closed from OH - NY. But he still made the drive from Seattle to NY in 3 days.

I don't think my hubby has a romantic bone in his body, to be honest.
Though he does try for my sake, and often suceedes!

He managed to propose without once saying "I love you" (I think it was nerves and he just forgot, but still, makes me laugh!); and just tonight he gave me chocolate for Valentine's because "I know I said I didn't want to do anything, but that seemed to upset you and I didn't want you pouting all day on Sunday."

Wait, that wasn't the question, was it??
Sorry, it just makes me laugh more.

Hmm... Before hubby, there wasn't much... Or I've just chosen to forget.

So what has he done that's been romantic... One of my favorites is a necklace he got me for... Christmas? Gah, I don't remember! I am not big on "expensive" or "fancy" jewelry. I tell him, if you want to buy me something, get me a $5 hemp necklace from the local tourist trap.

Well, this one is not cheap! Not expensive, but still. It's gold and has 3 diamonds on a heart. My first reaction was "stop wasting money!!"
Then he explained to me that he picked it because the three diamonds represented the 3 years we had been together, and the 3 of us- him, me, and Evie.

Now with a puppy added and a baby on the way, we say it's our 3 kids.

There are other cute, sweet little things he does, but they won't make nearly as good of a story, and I am obviously rambling already, so I'll end here.

This last spring my DH went outside (With his cane and bulging disk) ... (it was in June I believe cuz I just got my first Tatt) and gathered all the apple blossem petals he could find into a dish for me. He said they were to sprinkle in my bath water (New tatt on my back between my shoulderblades... no bath lol). He also went out and got his tongue pierced because I love piercings. I know that doesn't seem romantic, but it really was. He also got me a 1.5 Terra bite external hard drive as a late valentines gift. He really is romantic and knows exactly what to do to make me happy... for him... Um... I suck at romance! For our 10th anniversary last summer he got me my first tattoo! I was so excited. It's 'the tree of life, lovers' it's beautiful!!

Once, after he herniated his disc the first time, I set him up with his computer station so everything was within easy reach on the most comfy chair he could sit in. I thought it was a nice thing to do!

Be Safe.

In a state of insanity :)
Lets see I was feeling crappy as all get out alying on my stomach on the couch. I think I was asleep and I felt something gently put down on my back. Woke to the littlest claws in my back and a little kitten to be loved.

I'm one of the least romantic women you'll ever meet...but DH is much more romantic--fortunately, not TOO much so--I can't stand mushy stuff!

About the closest to romantic thing I ever did was early on, shortly after we got married. I surprised him by cooking dinner--but only wearing an apron and high heels, and pretending like nothing was out of the ordinary. I guess that's romantic (?) (He liked it, at any rate ;-)) I also sometimes surprise him by wearing a nice nightie that I bought that day; also, I will spoil him by cooking a very special meal (though nowadays, I'm fully-clad--don't want him to vomit up his dinner).

DH, on the other hand, is wonderful. He sometimes buys me red roses out of the blue (I haven't the heart to tell him I really don't care for roses, esp. red ones). He always gives me the loveliest cards. He also remembers little things that I like, no matter how obscure; if he seems them in a store, or even at a yard sale, he'll surprise me with the item. He also tells me, "Love you!" at least once a day--and has for over 6 years. Now, THAT'S romantic!

Oh, I almost forgot: the "Puke Purse" he made me. He does leatherwork. We had just eaten out, walked into the parking lot, and he started to vomit. (He ate something bad.) I was trying to hold his head, and comfort him, but he kept pushing me away. Later, he told me he did that so the vomit wouldn't get on me. To reward my loyalty, he made a nice embossed leather purse, with a heart on it, and dubbed it the "Puke Purse"!
