I had never heard of a Torbie. This is my 4 yr old rescue named Isis. She's very sweet but vocal. Her belly has cream color with brown spots and her sides are marbled if you can't tell from the photo. Is she a torbie?

Sofia on the other hand has tabbed black spots:

So she would be a Torbie and White, or Patched Tabby right?

Her head is actually more Torti:

Patched Tabby is a better description, but we think the Tabby Calico should be a Tabico or Caliby. It is interesting how the descriptions vary by location, etc. I think of Calico and Torti as 2 distinct patterns.

This is a great forum!
Your cats would fit in my clowder. they are the same colors and patterns. I like how Lilly has the straight line down the center of her head where it changes from black to red. Julie has one like that. I find it is pretty common on calico cats.

I called Clarabelle a tortie when I posted her baby picture. The vet called her black tabby with gold. The bigger she gets the more colorful. Ears & tail have black tips, white starts under her chin & down her neck. Red stripes start on her chest, then black. on her belly spots. White & cream on her back legs. Lots of red patches scattered over her tabby pattern

hello i'm new so I wasn't sure where I post but this will be my baby in about 7 weeks my bestie is getting mommy and all the babies fix for us she's awesome. I love her colors but I was wondering if she was a tortie or a torbie? She has a beautiful calico sister as well which is going to my other friend so I will see her often so excited. Also will her red on her back become more defined as she gets bigger? Thank you for any insite you might have. [emoji]128512[/emoji]

I just acquired what I'm sure is a true torbie. One of her very distinctive tabby characteristics that few in this forum have mentioned are her very distinctive tabby facial markings. The eye liner and forehead lines are a dead give away, but her marbled, striped orange, dark brown and cream coat, and deep amber/orange eyes are definite tortie. She's BEAUTFUL with a sweet tabby personality. We named her Pumpkin.

The boy, you can cross your fingers behind your back and simply call him for a tuxedo.  or white and black bicolor...

But having this creme spot  (which is diluted red)  makes him technically into a tortie...   Males are not often torties, but apparently it happens now and then.

The others are probably the same, although their red  spots isnt diluted

@bemba, I see Saffie has the international "forbidden" sign (circle with diagonal slash) on her flank, like Sugar does. Does she have it on the other side, too?

I really wouldn't know what to call her, other than a pretty kitty.

Look at the white patch on her back leg. At the front of it, there is a line of white-tipped hairs that goes up and back, making a partial circle. Just in front of the vertical centerline, there is a line of white hairs that goes back diagonally.

Hello, this is Luz, I was wondering if you all might be able to help me. Is she calico, or tortoise shell? Her belly is black and white, as well as orange and tan. She was a stray kitten that was coming to eat at my house(she had most of her kitten teeth), it was in the 100's outside and she was filthy. Anyhow, she has the markings of both breeds, a very strong will, very loving, and loud. What do you think? Calitort? :D

She is a tortie with white.  Not calico, calicos shall have well definied spots, while many of her spots are mixed in.

Very pretty girl.

So you had adopted her as your indoor cat?  Spayed too?

Thank you, Stefan.

She was hanging around for a week, out side the house. A neighbor asked me if the spottily little cat was mine, I hadn't seen her. It was July and hotter than normal for Oregon. I finally saw her drinking water I left out (for the feral cat that lives in the back yard)on my steps. She was beautiful. She ran from me,and I saw sitting on the neighbors step. I sat down and started calling her, in about 5 minutes she was in my lap purring. I did t have the heart to leave her outside(the other bigger cats would not let her eat), I isolated her from my boys, and she took to my bed and slept with me, almost like she knew what a home life was like. I took her to the vet for the fiv test, exam. She ended up being around 7 months, healthy and spayed, no chip. I combed the list pet adds (for a few weeks)with the shelters and cl, and the local paper... No one mentioned a lost kitten with her markings. She's a pistol, tried to bully the bigger males. They tolerate her and she purrs like an engine, she also loves my buddies daughter and the ladies.
