Farm Cat Problems - Help!

Hiya all. Just to open up, I posted here once before, and the advice that I received was amazing. Also, very sorry if this is on the wrong forums...And, as a final note, I live on a farm, which should clear up any confusion.

Let's start it out. Years ago, my mom and I (I was 11 at the time) rescued an old, stray cat. We named her puss-puss, (Well, mom did), and she was a pure white -absoloutely- white cat, with hazel-golden eyes. It's been 4 years now, and we've moved to a farm, etc etc. So, on this farm, my cat's now roughly 13-15 years of age, as I guess, and this is where the problem starts.

My family loves cats, but we don't like having lots of them, 'specially in houses. So we only have two, my puss-puss and moms new kitten. Outside the farm, we have around 2 grown males and 1 kitten boy, and 4-5 grown females and 1 kitten. So, one of the grown males, Bencher (Very large, beefy, and horrndously mean kitty) owns the farm. That's OK, even though batches of kittens are springing up 2-3 times a year...

So, my cat (She's female) is a half-outside, half-inside cat. She's outside in the night, and inside at day, sleeping. Good schedule. But, this 'Bencher' cat is really, really mean. He's the "I own the farm, I do whatever I want on it" kind of guy. He's super skittish, and noone can approach him. So, I was outside one day, trying to coax my kitty to eat supper (I accidently stepped on her tale, so she's really grumpy), when I hear a yowling and screeching. I love cats, so I though "Oh no! Coyotes!!" and ran to the sound.

That dang bencher was trying to mate with my cat, but she was fighting back. He's about 1/3 of her size larger (She's kinda fat, but not really anymore - She's old), and alot stronger. In my eyes, I see rape, truthfully. I understand that cats go in heat, but this was in the middle of a Saskatchewon winter (-5 to -40 celcius, oh yeah), and my cat definantly DOESN'T go in heat. Hasn't ever since we got her. So, this bencher is beating my cat up. She's bleeding, and he keeps trying to mount her.

Hasn't ever since we got her. So, this bencher is beating my cat up. She's bleeding, and he keeps trying to mount her.

I run in, shoo him off, and carry my kitty back inside. She's doing a crying kind of painful meow, and I'm really, really mad. This has been going on for six months or so, ever since we moved here, and this bencher won't stop. He also tried mating with a young kitten, just out of the..uhh, well, kitten stage. About 2 1/2 to 3 months old. Really young. I shoo him off, and the kitten ran off and hid. I was seriously mad. I still am.

And now today, the final straw. I live on the upper floor, and my cat has easy access to my window, to go on the second roof - She goes in/out of there all the time. This bencher attacked my cat up there, and knocked her off the roughly 6-7 foot roof. I jumped outside, in the 2 or so foot deep so, balancing on the roof, and he's mating with my semi-unconcious cat. I jump down the roof, (The snows soft and thick, so it doesn't hurt) and kick him. The cat freaks out, gashes my leg, and runs.

That's it. I'm going to kill him. I want an easy, humane way. There's no animal control for around 125 miles, and even then, my parents would freak on me, since they see 'No wrong with what's happening.'

Just to say, no matter what you all think, he will die. I don't like to kill things, but I've had to before, either coyotes or etc. We're vegetarian, so we love animals, but this is too much. My cat won't even go outside, and she'll prefer to do the bathroom thing inside the house, much to my parents (And I) distate.

I don't have access to a gun, though I can easily shoot one, albeit a .22 - If I could get it, I would use it, but it's in the locker. My parents/family are going to the city tommorow, so that's the day this 'bencher' dies. I want a way to kill him, since I can't seem to be able to catch him. I can't do anything fancy like a trap, since 1. My parents will see it and 2. Other cats will fall for it, as will skunks/coyotes and etc. Or a dog. Hate dogs...

So, please. I'm all ears. I managed to grab him once, when he was on the roof, and shoved him in a pillow case. I was going to strangle him, but I can't do that. It would hurt him. I want him to die cleanly. He's lived a good life, since he's a pretty old cat. But, as I've said before, too much. Far, far too much...

So please, if you wish to protest, it will fall on deaf ears. I'm only looking for a nice suggestion, and no, there's no vets in the area - I won't pay $120 to put him down, I'm poor myself - hard to work in -30 celcius weather, no?

Please reply, and thank you!

I understand you were mad, but that's not the way to go about things. (unlike everyone else that will post, I'm not going to call you names or attack you for this..) Besides being cruel, you are at a huge risk of being attacked. If you are it could mean all of the cats go if someone thinks they're all a rabies risk (not being vetted and all).

The basic problem here is that all of the cats need to be spay and neutered. It's not ok for new litters to pop up, and yes a cat can go into heat during the winter.

Start calling around to vets and rescue groups that do TNR - it never hurts to call. They may be able to work with you or offer some solutions as who to turn to, because your family must get this under control. Otherwise it's just going to keep happening.
When Bencher's gone another tom is just going to take his place and that cat will do the same thing. Male cats hormones drive them into being that aggressive, it's really not their fault. Killing him will solve nothing.

Also.. don't be jumping around on roofs during the winter. You're libel to fall and break your neck.

Do we have any Canadian members that might be able to help point the kid in the right direction as far as resources?

I also live on a farm - please get all the farm cats fixed.

Until the tom is neutered, he will continue to try to mount/mate any female, and will fight to the death with any males. Heck, I've seen toms just wipe out entire populations of cats regardless of male or female.

Yes I second getting all of your kitties fixed. Especially Bencher. Non-neutered male kitties will just about anything to mate with the females. It will also lower his aggression towards the other cats. Having all your kitties fixed will also help keep the cat population down on your farm, prevent unwanted kittens.

This is a CAT WELFARE site. As such, we most certainly will not give you suggestions on how to dispose of this tom cat who is only following the urges of his body, nor will we accept threads asking for such. This thread is closed, as will any new threads asking the same type of question.
