Minimum is 2# and 2 months, although many vets won't spay that young. I thought my cats were finished growing at 6-8 months, but they all seem to have gained another 50% since then. Larger cats take longer to reach their full size, up to 2 years.

Cats can continue to grow up to three years. The first twelve months is crucial, but many cats continue to fill out in both height and length for another year or two.

As was said, minimum weight for spay is 2 pounds.

Holland was around 4 pounds when I adopted her at 5 months old. She had already been spayed. She's almost 2 now and only weighs 6 pounds. Some kitties are just small, Mittens should be fine getting spayed.

She has an appoinment set up for next Sunday to get spayed!

Here is a picture of the little monster:

Any chance spaying her is going to turn her into a nicer cat? lol
She's such a little terror!

Awww...she's so cute! I miss my black and white kitties even after all these years. I hope to be Chosen by another some day.

I'm sure Mittens is just being a normal kitten. You can train her to not do things like bite you or scratch the furniture.

If she does Gravity Experiments, put away valuable breakables until she gets older. Give her things she CAN knock over, and once she learns which are her toys, you can probably put things back out.

Don't worry, spaying won't change her personality

Thanks!
I love her tuxedo markings so much. The first time I saw her, my heart absolutely melted! She thinks she owns the place though, lol. Her favorite thing to do is hang out on the stairs, and then attack people's heads as they walk by, and grab onto your leg if you walk up or down them, lol. She pretty much likes to ambush everyone in the house every chance she gets.
Like I said, she's a terror! But she's cute, and I love her.

Edit: She's actually a pretty good cat when it comes to destruction. She doesn't scratch/bite things really much at all. But she likes to mess with people, lol. Not exactly sure how to stop some of her behaviors though, such as charging my little lhasa apso dog. Misty (my dog) just runs over to us scared, lol. If she's not being a crazy kitty, them two actually do get along

Cats go through a phase at about 6 months or so that we might call adolescence. They are often very active and more than a little fractious.

Our foster Flambe is that way, too. About the right age, and he's wearing out our older cats.

She's cute! I love black and white kitties. I'm surprised her appointment is for next Sunday.....most vets aren't open on weekends.

Ah, all the "cat in heat" stories! My first cat (half Siamese) went into heat when she was about 5 or 6 months old. We couldn't get her spayed because we lived overseas on a Navy base and the vet only came once a month to do spays/neuters. You had to put your kitten on the spay/neuter list as soon as you got it, and even then it took about 6 months to get the appointment. She made us crazy! She howled and screamed and was just a huge pain. And it seemed like she STAYED in heat until she was spayed 2 months later.....at least she never stopped howling. Yep, 2 months of a Siamese in heat. Fun.

And my girl Dot went into heat right at 16 weeks. 3 days before her scheduled spay. The vet made me wait 10 days so she wouldn't be so bleedy. But yeah, that's the youngest I've ever had a cat go into heat.

She's definitely got a lot of energy! Sometimes I think she'll never run out! I do enjoy her high energy most of the time, but sometimes I just wonder if she'll ever calm down, lol.

And I take all of my animals to a 24hr animal hospital, so they're open all the time.

Well, dropped her off this morning for her spay. Will be picking her up at four. Poor girl was so scared and confused, she's never really been out of the house since the first week we got her.
She was meowing the whole time up there and the whole time when we were dropping her off. I really hope she behaved, lol.

Here's hoping for a quick recovery (for both of you! You'll be worse than she is, I bet!). I'm sure the vet will give you all sorts of after-care instructions, but don't be afraid to call the office if you have any questions. I did after my male's dental, because I didn't understand fully what 'groggy' meant - I thought he'd be sleepy, not walking like a drunken sailor when we got home!

Well, we picked her up at 4 and she has been crying and wanting nothing more than to run around the house. We kept her in her carrier for a while, and now she's in a larger (3ftx3ft) dog crate so she has a little room. The trouble is, she keeps licking her incision.
As of right now we don't have an e-collar for her. We tried the one that we needed to use on my small dog a few months ago, but it's still too big. My mother is out right now getting paper plates to make one ourselves, but it won't be until tomorrow that we'll be able to go out and get an appropriate one. Why must she keep licking it?
She's already had a rough enough day, now I have to collar her.

I have a idea.
Put clothes on her.
It will cover the incision up.
I did that with my cats and it solved the problem.
Lucy pulled her stitches out and we had a mess years ago.
