Last night while I was playing with Sasha, Sasha on my lap, Marlow jumped on to join in. I was dangling a set of foam earplugs. Marlow took several swipes before he got nervous about where he was.

He now submits to the morning brushings almost regularly.

For those not familiar with Marlow, he is a feral introduced to the indoors just 12 weeks ago. Six months of outdoor feeding before that. These cats can come around given time.

Awww, he is really coming around beautifully!
It was the same way with my Elliott. It took him awhile to come around, but now he is very affectionate. He's not a lap cat and can't be picked up but he LOVES belly rubs, chin scratches and he will lay in close proximity to us purring like a motorboat.

It didn't surprise me that much. Sometimes he would sit close by and watch me. Kinda like he wanted some attention.
Also he's let me brush him a few times. And when I'm sitting in my chair, he comes by to get a little scratch on the neck.

Still, at other times, he acts like he's scared to death of me.

He's making remarkable progress with you!! My Lucky didn't come close to me on purpose for over a year. Then one day he surprised me when he followed me into the bathroom and head-bumped my legs one morning. Go figure. They do things at their own time and when they want it.

You've got a very good boy and all of you are lucky to have found each other!!

I'm so inspired by Marlow's story. Horatio is at about 5 weeks indoors, he loves feet. He purrs and purrs at my hubby's or my feet. Last night, I was reading on the love seat, he had observed Katie and Bianca lounge on my lap while reading and was really thinking about going for it. Yet, he was afraid of the lap. He's close, but the jealousy from the girls overwhelms him... Another month maybe???
