not to feed Gracie this morning. She's going in in about an hour to get her teeth cleaned at the vets. As of ten last night she couldn't have any food.Last night wasn't a problem but this morning really tore me up, I kept her in my room while I fed Casey in the kitchen, and the looks of expectation of food every time I walked in to my room was heartbreaking. She can't figure out why I'm being so mean to her.

At least she didn't do what Sho did to us once. He's always been a cat that's very focused on his food.. so when he didn't get it he was not happy. Around 5am he crawled up on DH's legs and peed on him.
Thankfully, that never became a habit with Sho.

She may or may not be very hungry later - anesthesia can kind of put you off food some. If you don't usually offer wet food you may want to if she acts like she doesn't want to eat.

When one of our cats has a dental, we put the cat in his or her cage and take her down first thing. And nobody gets breakfast until the kitty is at the vet and I'm back home. The idea of feeding the other cats their meal and not feeding the dental patient....I can't do that, I just can't. So nobody gets fed until later. And believe me, my cats are not amused about that at all!

Gracie will be fine. Sending good luck vibes that she'll have a good dental and not have to lose any toofers.

Good idea about wet food.

I also don't feed any cat when one has to fast. Tolly recently had to fast until 2:30 in the afternoon! (from the night before) (Tolly was having fasted blood work, but as he was having his phenobarbital levels tested, too, it had to be 8 hours after his morning phenobarbital pill)

Fortunately I never feed my cats first thing in the morning, so waiting in the morning wasn't any big deal, and then I went out and ran some errands so they would just nap. After I put Tolly in his carrier, and brought him to the car, I ran back in and fed the other two before we left for the vet.

Good luck to Gracie today!

I went through the same thing a few weeks ago when Teyah was spayed. Wow were all of my kitties EVER mad!
It IS for her own good though. Vibes for Gracie!
