Does this breed exist?

I would love to find a cat with the nice fur of the spotted Bengal, but with a round face and a more compact physique (more like a DSH). What breed would this be? Does it just exists in my imagination? To me it would be the ideal cat (physically, I mean).

Not that I know of. I don't see why you don't like the body and head of a Bengal - its really not that much different. Fully developed males will have a more rounded looking head.

Egyptian Mau perhaps?

Look through the shelters. You CAN find such a moggie, as tabby DSH can sometimes - not often but happens - get the look of spots, especielly on the lower side of the body.

I saw such a one in a garden adjacing ours some year ago. Gorgious. I suppose he is mainly inside kitty of some neighbour, and took a walk off, as I havent seen him before or later. And he did had the looks of a cat whom it is sorry about (= no stray).
I mean, such moggies do exists. You can find them with some luck.

Several years ago, my RB girl, Kiki gave birth to a beautiful boy that had the markings of a bengal. He grew up the be a beautiful cat. His dad must have had bengal in him as he had the same body type. I gave him to a friend who named him Rama. He ended up going over the bridge at a young age, but I don't remember what he died of.

If it's just the spots you are after, not rosettes then a spotted tabby British Shorthair might have the look you are after.

Can't go wrong there! Though the males tend to have even rounder head than the cat in the pics. Here's an example, my Utu's uncle Bono, silver spotted BSH. His nose is just perfect, I love it!

*edit to add* They come in all colors.

Oh my gosh - I love British shorthairs. Their little round faces are so adorable. There's a breeder in Australia who also has an awesome enclosure. -sigh- wish I could do this...

Oh, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the look of the bengal. I just happen to have 2 DSH at home and one of the two just has the cutest face to me. I would love to find a cat that mixes her type of face and body to the exotic fur of the Bengal, but it doesn't mean that I don't like the look of the Bengal. To me, a Bengal is majestuous and gorgeous, whereas my DSH (or the spotted tabby British Shorthair) is more on the cute side. That being said, I already told my fiance that we would be having a Bengal one day.

That's what I was assuming - you wanted the coat texture of the Bengal - not just the spotted pattern. The Bengal is the only one to have those "fancy" looking spots - not a solid spot like the Mau or Ocicat.

Have you checked out the Oci's? They do also come in a classic pattern but more longer - not the bullseye circle pattern. They look a bit more "exotic".

Yes, I've checked the Ocis and they are very beautiful. The coat of the Bengal appeals me more, though. I think I also like the fact that they have a special personality and are very active.

Really?! I think the best for me in this case would be to visit a breeder for both the Oci and the Bengal. I think I would know better after interacting a little with the cats if they allow me to. Or at least if I could watch them a little.

Good idea - those that own Oci's are biased as much as those that own Bengals I've got another Oci on order (since we lost our chocolate boy end of last year). I'll be patient for the right one.
