Kitty food problems...

My cat wants to take his paw and drag food out of his bowl onto the floor before he eats it... any idea why? By the way, his bowl is plenty wide enough. He also likes to play with his food too. Any suggestions are appreciated

My kitten does this too. He will pull one kibble out at a time, play and bat at it for a little bit, then eat it. Then start all over with another kibble. No suggestions for ya but my kitty does the same thing.

Welcome to TCS!

I have several cats who, for whatever reason, don't want to eat from the bowl/plate. One picks up a mouthful of dry food, spits it out on the table beneath the plate & then begins to eat it again. Another drags it off the plate, it sounds like your kitty does.

I ended up buying place mats that are easily washed to put under their plates.

I have read that cats using their paws are very intelligent. Congrats on having a smart cat.

Attitude does that with canned food, she'll swipe pieces out of the bowl to put them on the floor to eat.

Cindy does that. I also use a mat. Cindy also drinks from her fountain by putting her paw in and licking it off her paw.

Short doggie detour:

My sister's boyfriend has a Weimaraner, Biggie Smalls () who will do this, but ONLY when his dad isn't home. He picks up one piece of kibble at a time (with his mouth, not his paw) and walks out to the living room, drops it on the floor, and then eats it. Drives my sister crazy, which I'm pretty sure is exactly why he does it.
