I posted sometime back, Jan, about my cat having a cloudy eye. Well, it was worse than I thought and Chester, my cat, had to have his eye removed. Stitches were taken out Wednesday and he is doing just fine. Bumps into a few things, but is back to his old self. Now to just get him to stay outdoors, he has fallen in love with the beds. Its ok, until you wiggle your toes..Thanks everyone for your kindness and help. Hopefully it will be a long time before Chester gets in trouble again. Now my dogs, thats another story and another site.

Oh my. I am glad Chester is on the mend. I don't have any experience with cats losing an eye as to how well they adapt. Maybe someone else does.

Oh wow, I am so sorry! Does he need to go back outside? Can he stay inside?

Hooray for Chester! I hope all continues to go good for him.

I would worry about outside. Hopefully he can stay in. Much safer.

I am sorry to hear about Chester's loss of an eye, he will adapt, but he really should be kept inside now, for his safety.

He needs to stay inside now. When I had Attitude outside and she had the corneal ulcer the vet told me if it popped and the eye had to be removed that she would have to live inside, and since she had leukemia and Maude didn't then I would have a very hard decision to make. This was before Paul and I decided to get Maude vaccinated and hope for the best.

His vision isn't really good enough for him to go back out, but if it's between that and nothing then he might need to find a new home where he can be kept inside or, depending on his background(I know plenty of cats who would be miserable inside, not to matter it would be hard for me to give up any of my babies) let him back outside. His vision has been compromised and that makes him more vulnerable since he doesn't have his full range of vision.
