Paul took her to the vet and her liver was failing. He had to let her go, she was suffering and he couldn't afford the huge amount it would take to try and save her and her liver was about to the point of total failure.

I'm just angry. I am MAD(ok I'm p***** off, but I don't think I'm allowed to say that.) After all the worry and guilt(and some fights with Paul, who said he was ok with it) about bringing Attitude and Nuts inside knowing they have leukemia and could possibly infect her she was leukemia NEGATIVE. They never infected her, she was obviously either immune to it or her immune system fought it off or Attitude and Nuts aren't shedding it(it was long enough that if she was going to have it she already would have it.) I think I'm mad that she died, and it was so unexpected. She was only 10 or 11 years old, cats are supposed to live a lot longer than that.

I don't know I'm just mad that this wasn't supposed to happen, if she died it would be my fault and Paul could hate me for it. It's nobody's fault and I don't know why it bothers me.

I'm just so sad I'm not thinking straight. It was just too unexpected. I know I'm going to face this with Attitude and Nuts(they are a faint positive so they might never get sick or it could go full blown and they end up with cancer) knowing that something might help but it being way too expensive to do it and not knowing if the suffering they would suffer from the treatment is fair to them.

Sweety, please stop beating yourself up. Ten or eleven is getting up there. The average age for a cat is about thirteen or fourteen.

You did the right thing. You did it with love and that is all your Maude ever knew. That is a good thing.

Please, take a few moments and relax. It is so very hard, everyone will agree. Take comfort in eachother. There is no blame. Maude passed from liver failure. It happens.

So in her honor, focus on the two you have now. Let her legacy be extra love and attention to her fur friends.

Something good can come out of all this.

Awww hun, as hard as it is, it DOES happen and as much as we'd love to be able to stop it, we're not miracle workers.
You have every right to be sad, angry, and everything else associated with it, but it is NOT anyone's fault, and we're all here for you.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your Beloved Maude. You are still in shock, it takes time to absorb such a sudden loss. I know how much it hurts, and I know it hurts for a long time.

Thank you.

What I meant was that, I think both Paul and I were worried that Maude would end up with leukemia and die or be sick from that. In that case it would be my fault because I brought Attitude and Nuts in knowing they were positive and she wasn't. It's hard to explain, how I feel.

Paul is all broken up, he told me he's lost the last member of his family. She was his cat, his 4th wife got her then when she left she didn't take Maude with her so Paul ended up with Maude. She was HIS cat, no one else mattered except Paul.

She tolerated Attitude and hated Nuts. Both Attitude and Nuts would try and bug her. When they first came in Maude was in Paul's lap and Attitude joined them. Maude opened her mouth to hiss and 'Tude stuffed her tail in Maude mouth so she couldn't, Maude spit out the tail and tried again and once again got a mouth full of 'Tude tail. She was so mad she opened her mouth and took Attitude's entire head into her mouth. She didn't bite down or anything just showed Attitude who was boss. She had done the same with Nuts, but she just plain didn't like him. There was hissing but they never got into a fight. I even caught her touching noses with Nuts and all 3 would sleep together on the bed. She would even let Attitude curl up against her back. You can look at my sig and Maude's face, body language and the distance she kept from them basically says how she felt.

She was special and a one of a kind cat.

Here is another picture of Maude.

She will be missed and I feel so bad for Paul. He had to put his 17 year old dog to sleep in July so he has had a really bad year, he lost both his pets. The only family he had left and he lost both of them in the past year.

I am so sorry for your loss. I understand how you feel having lost my 14 year old cat two weeks ago. It is so hurtful and leaves such an empty spot in our lives when we lose our pets. Hugs to you both. Maude was a beautiful cat.

Rest in peace sweet kitty. When you see the big old yellow tabby, his name is Speedboat. He is a real lovable fellow and he will make you a good playmate until we all meet again.
