Today was so nice and sunny! So we went outside for the first time!

I decided to transport Sophie outdoors in her carrier, so it doesn't feel any different than the trips to the vet and my parents house.

I also got a bell to ring each time we go outside, so hopefully eventually she'll be trained that without the bell she doesn't go outside. And eventually I won't have to use the carrier.

We had so much fun. She was a lot more timid to come out of her carrier than I was expecting, as she is generally fearless about everything!
Actually I figured out later that she was uncertain about stepping out onto the grass, so I carried her to the pavement, and she was much happier.

She walked the retaining walls, and the back lane, and we saw people walking, heard dogs and cars, and smelled the wind... it was quite the adventure! She did so well on her leash -- she's figured out that when the leash is taut, it means she's going in the wrong direction, and she (usually) went the way I was leading her.

When we got back home, I put the ssscat outside the door, to reinforce the "Don't you dare cross!" policy, and she scurried away from it! Yesss!

She was so cute, and I was SO proud of how well she behaved! And the best part of it was, about 2 minutes after we came back home, she conked out on the sofa for about three hours solid!

Here she is, meeting the world for the first time.

Awww... What a GREAT picture!
Nice story too! Well done! I like the Idea of going out in the carrier, maybe this way she doesn't dash through the door every time you open it... Well done!

It looks like you have thought about your training program and are implementing it carefully. Just make sure you are consistent and soon you will be enjoying your walks without any problems. Keep up the good work.
