We went thru this last year.. all the cats were snotty and sneezing. The vet gave us L-Lysine powder to put in their food and that helped. It hit Tabbi the hardest out of all the cats, and took her longer to recover.

I took her in for vaccines a week or two ago.. I think the stress of the vet trip caused another outbreak, because she started sneezing and snotting a few days ago. Her eyes also have some discharge. We started the L-Lysine powder in the food, but I can tell she's not herself.

She's laying down at my feet, and I can smell an "odor" coming from her, which I know ussually means infection. Im gonna see if I can get her to the vet in the AM (no guarantees on that we just got a bad snow storm tonite!).. if not then the soonest I can get her in is Monday.

Im abit worried.. you never know what to expect at the vet (other than a huge bill).. any advice or thoughts on what you think may be wrong?

She most likely has developed an URI from the stress of the vet trip and potentially the shots themselves. While you're at the vet, and if you can afford it, and if your vet will do it, ask for Tabbi to be tested for Herpes using the IDEXX Real PCR URD test. It's extremely accurate and you'll know for certain if she's got FHV and can take the necessary steps to get her healthy and stay healthy.

FWIW, you can get lysine powder at the health food store or online and add it to their water or canned food. It dissolves easily and is much less expensive than buying the paste from the vet.

Keep us posted!
