Holland has been on wet food only this week because of her dental procedure on Monday. Is it normal for wet food to cause such stinky poops or should I be concerned about her? Man, she is a stinky girl right now!!!

More than likely it's the CHANGE in her food that is causing the stinky poo and gas than it is the wet food itself. My foster cat, Gumbi Jane, is on an all wet food diet because she has no top front teeth and not only do I find she poops less often but it is not nearly as stinky. Hopefully you won't have to deal with this much longer.

Depends on the food she eats and it does not have to be the wet kind. A raw diet virtually has no stinky poop. I think the more processed or have more additives in the food the smellier the feces.

In theory the above is correct... smell actually is the bacteria level coming out .. Ie foods with high pro biotic levels often cause more smell.. Some animals high naturally high bacterial levels thus all food smells... Raw food smells less as it gives enzymes to help digest and not leaving the bacteria as the main digestive aids

Wet food in most cats is more digestible than dry thus needs less bacteria.. this can cause more smell in cats with lots of colonies

We use wood stove pellets and feed high quality dry and canned foods and we also give them raw 2-3 times a week. The litter pan rarely smells and the poop is a lot smaller too.

Jake used to have stinky poop when he was eating kitten wet food.
I think someone on here suggested to me that if the food is too rich it can cause stinky poop.
When I switched him to adult food he never had stinky poop again.

My boy had stinkier and less formed poo on certain wet foods than on others - with him, anything with fish seemed to trigger the issue. but, could just be the change over at the moment...just like when people start eating more fiber - in the long run it's healther, but sometimes there are gastro issues during the transition.
