The Alabama senator Richard Shelby (a Republican, by the way) is currently holding up ALL nominations by the President until he gets a couple of pieces of pork approved for Alabama. Let's talk about hypocrisy! Of course, his stand is that Alabama sends out a lot more money to the federal government than it gets back.
