Surviving Hurricane Lola

This cat has a death wish!

Lola's special, very very very special. Beyond sweet, you can do anything to this cat. I love her to death.

But she's gonna kill herself. She has taken several phones off the hook today (including the fax line). She likes to wrestle with those curly cords. So I removed all phones with cords on them, except the fax, which there's no replacing it with a cordless phone.

She spilled 3 water bowls, soggy carpet.

She's spilled an entire tub of sunflower seeds (which should've been picked up). Oh she was sooooooo happy to eat those as fast as she could!

When I finally got the fax line back in working order, she ate the business proposal we've been waiting on all day.

She has, however, won over Death a.k.a. Ophelia Rose - never has Ophelia liked another kitty except Dory, however she'll tolerate Lola very well & almost play with her!

Oh how will I ever survive Hurricane Lola?

What I don't understand, is she's been so very good in terms of "common sense" things she didn't know about. We learned cords are bad, both phone cords & electrical cords - but now she's chewing phone cords again? I've been home for 2 days now, so she's getting a lot of attention & seeking me out for snuggles - or I would've thought perhaps this is because a lack of attention. We're doing our normal routine, our regular wand play sessions, etc.

It's like she learns things & then forgets them. For several days she couldn't get up on the desk, which she jumped up on before & is now back to jumping up on again!

Lovely Lola is unique and apparently determine that you NEVER suffer from boredom! She is a darling, disasters and all.

Sounds pretty close to my Sidney! She's the sweetest thing ever, you could sit next to her and rip her fur out and she wouldn't do anything to you, lets kids yank on her tail, etc. and will never harm a soul. But oh boy is she naughty.... for instance yesterday morning she knocked over the same dang plant four times in a row! And it's so hard to get mad at her because she sucks up like CRAZY constantly. I love that little girl to death, but sometimes I don't know how much more destruction I can take. Right now the good is outweighing the bad... I think it's only a matter of time Lola looks kinda like Sidney too- Sidney is a longhaired torbie/calico. She looks kinda odd

Gotta love them naughty kitties!!!

She is one beautiful hurricane!

When I first adopted Imhotep, he was a young cat, probably still under a year old. He was a HELLION! He would destroy everything, scratch everything, meow all hours of the night, race around like a herd of elephants. He drove me INSANE for the first few months after his adoption. I was literally wondering what I had goten myself into. Luckily, my beautiful blue eyed baby mellowed with age and is now very much my soulmate cat. He is still inquisitive and active, but is much more settled. He's my lap warmer, and anytime I'm upset, I know Teppy will be right there trying to cheer me up.

Aww. I love reading about Lola and seeing pictures of her. She stole my heart from the first post I read about her. She's such a beauty and has come so far -- thank God she has you in her life. She certainly would be much worse off had you not taken her in and helped her learn just what real life is about. She may not be the brightest (or most consistent) kitty, but she has a spark about her -- her innocence is something special...even when she's being naughty...

It seems that my kitties occasionally go through phases as well. Cassidy is always fairly well behaved, but she goes through periods of time where she'll try to assert her dominance with the other cats more frequently. She can be hot and cold with them and there's usually not anything that sets her off -- she just decides she needs to prove that she's the alpha one day and then she's off and running. Emory and Delaney both go through phases of being angelic one minute and complete hellions the next. Emory has a certain fascination with anything of mine -- especially hair accessories and jewelry. I can't tell you how much time I put into teaching her not to open my jewelry box or the drawers which held my headbands and hair ties. And, she'll go weeks without touching them. But, then, one day, for reasons unbeknownst to me, she'll decide she wants to get in the jewelry box and I'll come home from work to a mess of chains, rings, and earrings strewn about the floor. And, once she's done it once, she'll be on a kick with it for at least a couple of days. I don't know if she then forgets about it or not, but it could be months before she does it again. Delaney is much the same. She currently is back to being fascinated with the fish tank. She also has a tendency to knock calendars off the wall and eat them. Last year I went through 7 by March. Then I had a stretch of months where the same one was still hanging on the wall. Then, in November, she decided to eat it. Let's just say it's a good thing I went cheap this year and purchased a bunch of cute calendars from the dollar store -- I'm already down 3 and it's only just February! I'm hoping she forgets about the calendars again soon because I'm about ready to forget about trying to remember schedules and dates. But, such is life with a kitty. We won't even begin to go into what the kitten does. Suffice it to say that nothing is safe anymore!

I say...just enjoy her. At least now she has a chance to be naughty -- as well as a foster meowmy who loves her enough to deal with her naughtiness! I know you've been asked before, but have you put any thought into adopting her and making her one of your own forever? I'd love to see such a happy ending for Lola. And, hey, if Ophelia Rose can tolerate her, she can't be that bad, right ?! No matter what, I just hope Hurricane Lola gets adopted -- I'd take her in a heartbeat. She's just too special. And so are you for taking her in and giving her a chance to just be a normal, not-so-normal cat.

I'm definitely hoping for a happy ending for her. It would be nice if it was elsewhere, for a variety of reasons. I have enough cats already, and as long as she's here I can't foster anyone else. With kitten season coming, I'm tied up with Lola & Gumby. But I also realize in this area she will be incredibly difficult to find a good furr-ever home for. I'm hoping as spring approaches, people will look at the "half grown" kittens still looking for homes.

This can't possibly be Lola Foofy Tale kitty!! I'm certain you have her confused with another of your cats. I can't believe that the timid kitty you've had to teach how to be a cat could be capable of such mischief! She's just releasing her inner cat.

I'm afraid she's got a lifetime (OK 6 months) worth of catching up to do.

Duct taped the phone down on the fax machine - set machine on top of phone cord.
Put 90% of the papers into file cabinets, working on the rest.
Bought the "non-spillable" kind of water bowls. Apparently they never met Lola, she just "fished" the water out. Gotta love that she can figure these things out!

Printer has a touch screen on it, and it will print sodoku, mazes, tic tac toe, &connect the dots - Lola has supplied me with enough to last a lifetime.

But now she's sitting patiently by me, napping in a cat bed on the desk like an .

I want a tortie cat SO bad, if I lived near you I'd be tempted to take Lola. She'd at the very least force me to clean up the clutter I have around my house... I rely on my cell phone & don't have a land line, so that would be a plus!

Nat, she's just helping you get organized! So fun to see her purrsonality come out.

I have a Hurricane Attitude and Hurricane Nuts. They were going crazy running around sounding like elephants, making noise chasing each other around and jumping on the glass TV stand, bouncing off the couches. Someone(Nuts) knocked over the garbage can. They are just so cute I accept it. I have never had a problem with any of them and garbage so I'm thinking it was accidentally knocked over.

Right now they are chasing and playing with the inner plastic seal from a soy milk carton(too big for them to swallow) they love those things so I gave them the latest one yesterday when I opened a carton.

They are just the sweetest cats in the world. Nuts has been trying to comfort Paul by climbing into his lap and wanting attention. He's like that, when he knows you're sad or depressed he'll come to comfort you. Attitude just likes the attention so she'll try to get attention from anyone willing to give it and then purrs this huge purr so you can't be mad at her. Nuts has the same big purr so you can't be mad at him either. Nuts is more reserved with his purrs, if you look at Attitude at times she'll purr.

I think they like to 'forget', keeps us on our toes.

They are little hellions but they make up for it with the joy and love and laughs they give. It's like kids, if they weren't so darn cute, you'd kill them.

Awww! What a pretty baby!

She had a rough start to life and now has so much catching up to do. I'm sure she is very overwhelmed about how much there is to learn to being a kitty cat. She'll get there though! She's in the best place she can be to learn

We have our own Hurricane Lola, and at almost 2 years old she's still a whirlwind. When Lola was in her cord chewing phase bitter apple spray worked really well. We just put it on a cotton ball and rubbed it all over the cord. Can't help with tearing around knocking stuff over- my baby girl still does that.

Your Lola is just beautiful. I hope she finds a forever home soon. I just love kittens at about 5-6 months old (that's how old my Lola was when we adopted her). They are just a blast.

Edit: I forgot to add how much our Lola is *obsessed* with water. I still have the small CatIt in a box because she would put her hand down the center and make water spray all over the room like a hose! She (mostly) behaves with our drinkwell fountain. Your Lola looks like ours in a different color.
