No love

I have two cats, Roxy 6 years old, Shadow 5 years old. We adopted both cats as kittens...Roxy obviously a year earlier. Both are female and have never bonded much. Roxy, a wirehair, has the princess attitude and shadow, part bombay, has that "on caffeine" attitude. They lay 3 feet from each other all day, but when myself or my wife is around, they get territorial. Roxy growls when being held near shadow, often hissing. Shadow never seems to be the "b*tch". If I hold shadow near Roxy, Roxy will lick her and sometimes even rub her...but if it's switched roxy freaks out. They have a connection in the sense that they do spend all day near each other, and do chase each other playing around a lot, but it gets to be a pain at certain times with the growling and hissing. Will this ever change, i'm guessing no since they have lived together for 5 years. Is this normal for 2 females?

It's normal. I mean, we sometimes get into arguments with friends, cats do too.
