I failed her

This was not something that 24 hours ago I thought I would be posting.

On the 5th of Jan my youngest female Tales (see my avatar) gave birth to 5 live beautiful kittens - she was a great Mummy and very attentive. She has been losing weight, but has still been exceptionally good with the babies. I came home last night at 11pm and found her stiff, lifeless and close to death. I rushed her to the vets but unfortunately it was too late for my little girl, we suspect an internal bleed. My precious baby who loved life so much. I promised her that I would take care of her 5 babies.

My head has been spinning all day - in 14 years of breeding I have never lost a breeding cat so young. She was my beautiful girl. Just a few hours after returning from the after hours vet my step dad had a stroke and he is very ill.

I just need a hug and please please never forget my beautiful girl.

So sorry about Tales.
I can not believe that you lost her so young.
You sure are having bad luck with your dams.

Please don't think that you failed her. It's awful, but some times death comes early and suddenly. You gave her a good life while she was here, sometimes that's all that we can do. I'm so sorry.

Oh, Sam, I'm so sorry to see this, hon! She was a beautiful girl, and knew nothing but a loving happy home while she was here...no, you didn't fail her, not a bit. Nature can be cruel sometimes though, taking the ones that we least expect.

You did NOT fail her sweetie, you are not a mind reader. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I know exactly how it feels to lose a kitty so young and so quickly without warning. She was loved, don't ever forget that.

What aweful news Wellington. I don't know how I would deal with it, but I know I would be beside myself in grief.

Please know that it was NOT your fault, nature has it's way of doing things, and we have absolutely no control sometimes over it. Mother nature can be so cruel

What a terrible shock!

It's easy for us to forget the dangers in birthing, even under the best of circumstances, for all animals, including us. Yes, this sort of thing happens even to humans, in a modern hospital, with attending physicians and all. How could you fail her? There was no way you could know there was even a problem.

Sam, i'm as shocked as you to find you in here

I'm so, so sorry. You didn't fail Tails so please don't beat yourself up. Tails is a happy, healthy little girl again who knows her babies are in safe hands with you

If you havent posted already in the lounge about your stepdad please start a thread so we can be kept updated, because you need extra support right now But lots of mega healthy coming his way

Iam so shocked and saddened to hear this news.You never let her down. You gave her love and made her feel safe. To come home and find her that way is very upsetting to me. Bella and I are reaching out to you in support and friendship. There are no words to make this pain go away. Just have faith and find peace in knowing that she is in a wonderful place now. You will be able to feel her in your arms again someday.When one of us suffers a loss like this we all feel it. Much love--Bella and me
