I just adopted little Diglett today! :)

Hi all!

I posted a year or so back about my adult cat's urinary problems, but I thought I'd stop back in today to let everyone know that I just brought home a 15 week old kitten from the local adoption agency today! She's the sweetest little girl ever and FULL of energy!

My boyfriend decided to name her Diglett since she was rummaging around and "digging" at the floor when we first met her.

Anyway, on to my questions for new kittens! I haven't ever had a kitten before (my first cat, Micaiah, was an adult when I adopted her) so I'm totally new to managing a kitten. I have her set up in my room right now with water/food, bed, and toys, but I'm not sure what to do with her the first night. Should I allow her to sleep with me or move her into a small room to sleep in? I don't want my adult cat to get jealous thinking the kitten now gets to sleep with mommy and she's banished to the living room!

Also, little new kitty is crying when I leave her alone, which I understand is from fear of the new place. I'm not sure if I should let her cry so she doesn't use it as a tactic to get my attention or go to her since she's so new. When I do come in she's elated to see me and jumps up on me happily whilst purring and rubbing her head all over me.

She didn't have any liter mates (she was surrendered a month ago by herself with no mommy cat) and apparently was adopted once, but returned since the owner's dogs were NOT happy about the new cat and were too aggressive with her. She bonded with me super quick and is a non-stop purr machine.

She was also spayed this morning and despite this she has been playful and friendly all day (except being wobbly from the anesthesia).

Any suggestions for helping her feel comfortable and introducing her to my adult cat would be appreciated!

Thanks

I would put her in the bath or another room away from the other cat.
You need to watch her since she was just altered also.
She may be sore.
I also would wait a week before they meet just in case she has anything the other cat can catch.
You can let the other cat smell her scent but go slowly.
She is cute.

She is absolutely gorgeous! Yes, I would take the introductions nice and slow, give your adult cat lots of attention and reassurance and things should be just fine with time and patience.
