Instinct Dry - diarrhea??

I had switched my boys to Taste of the Wild - in an effort to go grain free, per my vet and Archie's GI issues.

The rescue I am with now offered me food from their donations. The only dry I took was Instinct. The boys seemed to like it and I was mixing it in with the TOTW... now at about 1:3 ratio. 1 cup Instinct to 3 cups TOTW.

This food seems to turn their stool really dark.

And I have noticed that lil Tex has been pooping dark puddles. Cleaned it off the bathroom floor tonight.

The only significant change in their diet IS the Instinct. They have also been getting little tastes of NV raw.

Anyone else had any experience with Instinct dry causing the runs?

Needless to say... it is not being mixed in anymore as of this evening.

Part of the problem with Tex - I think - is that he also eats way more than his poor lil system can handle... no matter how vigilant I am about picking up the OTHER cats food dishes....

Realize that Instict has a OUTER coating of Dehydrate RAW.. the puddles would have me cutting back the instict to 1/2 to 3 cups taste

His stool is still really soft and largely unformed. I may put him on boiled chicken and rice for a couple of days. He also has a sensitive GI tract. He is - WAS - my puker.

Update - I reintroduced digestive enzymes (Prozyme) and cut out the Instinct and I am pleased to say that Tex had a normal BM this morning. Yay!!

It must be something else Tex is eating. I am thinking too much fish. Sooo...
not much fishy stuff and let's see if that put's him back on the right track.

I am wondering if the CET dental chews are upsetting his tummy. If I don't watch carefully, he will eat HIS and parts of the other cats' chews.

Ingredients: Freeze-dried fish, processed poultry, dextrose, antioxidants (containing tocopherols, ascorbic acid, natural flavor and citric acid), glucose oxidize, dried when protein concentrate.

He won't eat them now, so I think I found the culprit. Also suspect fish overload tipped him twd diarrhea... so I am being VERY careful about what goes into his bowl b/c the TOTW has quite a bit of fish in it too.

MILK protein.... that I would suspect to be a issue
