Student sells virginity for $45k

A cash-strapped New Zealand student who auctioned off her virginity to help pay for university said she had accepted an offer of $NZ45,000 to sleep with a stranger.

The 19-year-old offered her virginity to the highest bidder in an online auction and said there had been more than 1,200 bids.

WHOA! Now this is what I call earning an education, the hard way.

I just found it surprising since it is New Zealand since they give student loans out with no interest.
I guess some aren't happy unless they get it for free.

England gives out a great deal on education too, when I was in university, all you had to do was apply for a student loan (interest free for x years) and your tuition was capped at just over 1000 pounds a year

Not sure if anyone saw this (it's similar, but it's not for education, it's for insurance)

I did see that one cat1. Ha ha, I think the far left put her up to that so they could say, "isn't this terrible, the lengths people have to go to, to get health insurance" ha ha ha

Oh the things people will do for money. *gag*

I saw that post and I can't figure out why anybody would do that. No, not the girl, the guy who paid $45,000. He could probably get 100 "dates" with high priced call girls (who know what they're doing) for the same money.

It's a shame that these young women feel that the have to lower themselves - someone obviously objectified them long before they reached college age.

I see nothing funny about someone else's suffering. I don't know anything about her particular disorder but since it is similar to lupus, that is one wicked disease. Really funny, huh?

Not laughing at anyone's "suffering".

Treatment
There is no way to treat the actual complement deficiency. However, antibiotics are used to treat infections and vaccinations are given to reduce the risk of disease. Often, the person is vaccinated against infections that include influenza, pneumonia, and meningitis. In some cases, (e.g. a specific disease called paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria [NH]) a bone marrow transplant may be recommended.
Alternative treatment
There is no alternative treatment for complement problems.
Prognosis
Since complement deficiencies include a wide range of disorders, the prognoses can also vary widely. Some patients remain healthy their entire life. Others are hospitalized frequently because of infections which, if not properly treated, can be fatal. Those with autoimmune diseases could have a normal life expectancy. There are some complement deficiencies, that have a high mortality rate. In those cases, death may occur within 10 years after diagnosis.
This woman is 45 years old and she looks good, hopefully she will be one of the patients who, "remain healthy their entire life."

And when her COBRA runs out she would be eligible for Medicaid if her income falles within the guidelines.
