Since I got my baby one month ago from a rescue home, he has had diarrhea and eliminates 5x plus a day.

What are your experiences with your babies having diarrhea? What type of diarrhea have your cats had when they had worms?

He eats dry food only and now I dont allow him to free feed anymore since he poops after he eats. I thought it was from switching his food, but I now feed him the same iams chicken that his shelter mom fed him. I have taken him to the vet for other issues and they gave me diarrhea medicine which doesn't help. He just finished a revolution treatment that the shelter mom gave him in January. What could it be, I want to rip my hair out!

It will be good to ask the shelter vet about his history and previous treatment. Then talk to your regular normal vet about it.

Cheetah came to me with diarrhea too, probably 2 days after we had him. It was because I was instructed to give him Wellness kitten canned food in the shelter. The volunteer did not tell me he has always had diarrhea after eating Wellness kitten canned. I later found out by viewing the vet's report from the shelter and calling the shelter vet.

I switched him to boiled chicken breast and rice, then to baby food (I should not have switched that often). And was bring him to the vet regarding this. But the whole no cat food period last about 3 weeks. Once he became stable, I slowly introduced him back to cat food.

This is my experience. So talk to the vet first, and try to rule out other health issues or allergies. Then maybe you can start with something mild for the little stomach until his poop firms up.

Has your vet done a fecal test for parasites and giardia? My Hannah had giardia the second day we got her. You can also have him tested for TF, http://www.highgait.com/page/page/3485008.htm.

Actually, adding some wet food to his diet would be good for him. You can also try a little bit of plain canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) or some plain yogurt to help clear up the diarrhea. However, if he's got parasites or giardia nothing will help except medication.

Oh boy, he has had diarrhea 5 times a day for over a month? That's not good... He needs to go to the vet ASAP, and the vet needs to get cranking.
He needs to get a fecal (including test for giardia)... Also discuss with your vet IBD/IBS.
This can also be food Allergies - at this point you should discuss with the vet an elimination diet, or an anti-allergenic diet...
One thing is for sure, the CAUSE for this needs to be found and treated, not only the symptoms.
Diarrhea in cats is not good at all... Not only it is not fun (imagine having diarrhea for a month), but dehydration is serious, and not to be played with...
I would also be feeding only wet food at this point.
many vibes for you and your boy

I agree with Carolina and the others.

Get him checked ASAP for parasites including coccidia and giardia.

While you are getting him tested....

Try putting him on the boiled chicken and cooked white rice diet for a few days. Steam up some rice. Boil up some chicken pieces on the bone - mostly white meat ... PLAIN ... nothing in the water. Pull off the pieces and chop them up with some of the boiled chicken water and the cooked rice. Even better, IMO , is if you have a food processor or a food mill and make a slurry of the chicken-rice-water combo to give to your kitten.

I would also look into getting some BeneBac or Probios either powder or gel... I think you can get that at some specialty pet stores or at feed stores. Another source is online. Another option is Animal Essentials. (probiotics and digestive enzymes together.)
