So, many of you probably know that Holland had most of her teeth extracted yesterday. Up to now, she's been eating Science Diet dry food, but for obvious reasons she's on wet food at the moment. I'm having a hard time knowing how much wet food to feed her. I've been trying to give her what she wants, but she gobbles up the wet food like there's no tomorrow. I want to make sure she gets what she needs while she's recuperating, but I don't want to overfeed her. Advice?

Your vet didn't give you post op instructions?
Bugsy had a dental a couple of weeks ago, and the vet instructed this for the post op:
On the first day, go Back to feeding very slowly, because of the anesthesia - this is for the first 12 hours... She should eat about 1/4 of the regular amount, and then build it from there, to the amount suggested to her weight (see on the label, on the can).
If she is fine eating, then she is fine...
Divide the meals in three, like you would with a regular cat, once she finishes, she needs to wait until the next meal.
If you work you can do a breakfast, then a meal right when you get home, and a late meal before you go to bed.
Ask the vet when she is going to be fine to eat dry food - even with no teeth she will be fine to eat normally.
God, Bugsy is going to go through this is 6 months or so.... I will keep an eye on your posts!
All the vibes for your girl

All the instruction I got was to feed her wet/soft food for 4 weeks. Vet told me she would probably want to eat after the surgery (Monday). She has a checkup in two weeks to make sure she's healing OK.

I just read the instructions on the pouch and it says to feed two pouches per day per 5 lbs (she's only 6 lbs.). I feel better - for some reason I had it in my head that she should only eat one pouch per day. So I've not been overfeeding, I've been starving my poor baby!!
