Moving older Cat to a new home.

Hi, guys. I have a question to ask

My Cat is 18. She is the meanest bitch who hate anything in world, including me, but I love each second of it. She is healthy but she is slowing down and now she is mostly lying and complaining about world. Still I pray God bless to be longer around her. She and I live in our apartment for 13 years. She did not take well our move 13 years back but she was much yonder then. She is indoor Cat and here home/territory for her is a whole universe, so it was my job and my great privilege to keep that universe comfortable for her.

Now it looks like I will be closing a house in the end of the moth. I am afraid that her age and at her level of neuroticism to change her home might be too dramatic and too painful for her. She has a million of small habits in our home, one is more idiotic then another and I play million small ceremonies with her to accommodate her habits. When I refuse to play those ceremonies she is disappointed and distressed but now I clearly recognized that many of those “ceremonies†are hard-bound to our current urban home. So, I am afraid that she might take a move to stressful and might experience trauma.

Sure, in the new suburb house she will have a lot of more opportunities but those “opportunities†might be a conviction of my consciousness not her feelings. So, does anybody have any advice how to make my move less stressful for her? I really like my new home but it is very important for me to know that my Cat will not hurt on any way while or after the move.

Rgs,

Changes are stressful to us all, and I feel for your elderly cat to be moving into a new home. The best you can do for her is to love her and assure her that she is safe. My kitty is quite young, but she has adapted to her environment whenever I've had to move her.

Just make sure to talk to your baby about what is going on and make sure she knows she is safe. If she has you in her new home, she will be OK!

My Coco is almost 18 and we moved to our house from a aprtment when she was 16.
She was fine but my Russian Blue mix went crazy and she was almost 2 at the time.
Keep her in the carrier at first and let her out in one room at a time at first.

You may also want to try a Feliway diffuser to help with the transition - http://www.feliway.com/us

Good luck!!
