So I mentioned the Honda I bought in November of 2008. It had a B16A1. What happened 3 months ago though really ticked me off. I was driving down the highway when my car started missing and hesitating, as I was pulling over I heard BAM and then smoke. I got off to the side and looked... there was a hole the size of my fist in the block where the number one piston resides. Not wanting to sell the car, I had it towed to a local performance shop that specializes in Hondas. I found a B16B from a 1998 Civic Type R complete with a new transmission with limited slip differential and heavy duty axles. It took a couple days but soon the new motor was in and they dyno'ed it... it was making 174hp ( rounded up) at the wheels. That is pretty impressive for a motor that spent the last 11 or so years sitting in a warehouse. That means before the transmission, it is actually making 200hp. The factory rated these cars at 185hp

The most impressive thing about the B-series is that they only displace a total of 1.6 to 1.8 liters. That is less than a Chevy V-6 that only makes 140 hp...

Plus, I had extra parts left over such as the old cylinder head( sold for 300 bucks) the old transmission( sold for 300 bucks) the intake manifold( sold for 60)

So I even ended up making some of my 3500 dollar outlay back!!!

I had money left over from paying December's bills, so I bought a new gauge cluster from a 99 Civic Si( they look more sporty and less like a fisher price toy)and a Japanese Domestic Market steering wheel from a 1997 EK4 SiR( no airbag, but a dark gray with red stitching) for the low price of 99 cents off ebay, shipping was 82 bucks but if you look at it this way, I got a 200-300 dollar steering wheel for 50 bucks plus 32 dollars shipping, you will find that is a great deal. I even found a replica Mugen grille and badge for 30 bucks...

So, even though I had a huge set-back, it wasn't that bad...
