My husband bought me a Little Martin guitar last July for my birthday. I have not had any lessons. On my own I watched a video and have learned how to play enough chords I can play some simple songs in the chords of D and G.
I can use the capo and it helps a lot. I had some problems with 3/4 timing and I got a metronome to help me with the strumming for that. I would like to learn how to pick some. Is there anyone that can give me suggestions how to learn that.

Well, I've played guitar for about 45 years since I was a teenager. I played at church and played and sang for many weddings. I find you can pretty much play any song with G, D7 and C. An occassional E or Em.

I think it is great you are learning. But you know, I never use a pick, I just strum or lightly pick certain strings. I can safely say I sing better than I play! I wish I had learned to pick, but the lady that taught me only did chords.

Just wanted to give you encouragement. Hope you do some fine "pickin and grinnin!"

PS Are your fingers sore?
