I'm not nervous...... it was more of a: how the heck am I going to get all this stuff done in 10 days, that I had planned on doing in a month....panic.

Of course, I'm not looking forward to recovery..... minimum of 10mos.... But the good thing is, the surgery is happening quicker than expected, so hopefully I can get on with my life sooner.

I'll just have to find some random people * cough cough * to harass when I am bored outta my skull and sick of being more of an invalid that I already am LOL.

did I mention: Farmville RULES!!!!!!

You'll be fine....just keep telling yourself that you'll be fine. What cannot be done today can be done the next. Or the next. I was kinda wondering where you lived, too, because I'd come help you!

You have kids? Slave labor indeed! They owe you, darn it. You brought them into this world; you can take them out! (well, after you're healed up, you can)

I hope your recovery time is amazingly quick! Sending lots of (((hugs))) and healing vibes for you.

Went thru my pre-op interview stuff on the phone today..... we have come to a thought I hadn't thought of at the time. One issue of the first one was that the pain afterwards was not being helped even though we threw more and more meds after it. Well, they had told me not to take my painkillers that morning (after I had been on them regularly for a couple years)...... which of course threw me into a bit of a withdrawal which messed my system up substantially.

The nurse said she had no idea why they told me not to take my painkillers, and we surmised that that was part of the problem. So this time, I will be taking my painkillers in the morning prior to the surgery.....so lets hope that helps the issue a bit.

She took note of all the problems I had with the first one, and told me to make sure that I mentioned it the day of surgery..... I had fully intended on it, as there is no way I want to go through feeling the first incision with sedation that didn't work, the block that wore off too fast, the issues with the meds afterwards, etc.

So providing they actually listen to me, that part should be better.

I've gotten a lot of prep work done, and I'm blessed to have a wonderful family that supports me and my chronic health issues.

At the suggestion of a friend, my children did an empathy exercise this past weekend.... I made it so they only had one hand
And told them to imagine that that one hand hurts like heck all the time..... needless to say, my 9yr old lasted about an hour. My 13yr old last longer, and now understands why I can do some things, but not other so very simple things that most people take for granted (like turning socks inside out, or other little things)

Now if only I could get DH to do it

I need to dig up my original post from the first one, cuz I do forget some stuff.

Oh, I picked up one of those things for the shower, a dispenser that you can fill with 3 different things. (in my case, shampoo, conditioner and body wash) I found that to be one of the most difficult issues (trying to squeeze a bottle into one hand with that same hand.....when there was noone home to help)

So 5 more days...... 1 of those days is fully spoken for with snake work.

I booked a massage for Friday, and another on Monday. Then we have to be at the hospital for 6am, surgery is at 8am, and if things go better with meds I should be home around noon

I think I had to go off my painkillers for 2 weeks because of blood thinning issues? Could that have been it?

Nope. The ones I'm on and was on, do not have anything for bloodthinning....

The nurse today had no clue why I wasn't allowed to take the one I was on....it wasn't in their book of "do not use" meds....so I
But at least I can take this one on time....unfortunately due to its short half life, I start to have w/d symptoms 2-3hrs after missing a dose

I could understand the painkillers that have aspirin or ibuprofen in them.....since both those cause blood thinning.... not the case for me...

ah well, at least I won't have the issue this time

knock on wood, I haven't gotten sick yet....Kendra has one heck of a cold, so we're doing our best so I don't get it....so far so good
