When am I going to begin feeling better? I'm just so tired, so sick, so overwhelmed, so...I don't even know. I just want to feel well again.

As it turns out, I'm not the only one who has pneumonia. My roommate went to the doctor today and was also diagnosed with pneumonia. Thankfully, her case is very mild and she was put on Zithromax and told to rest for a couple of days. But, still, it's not the best situation and I feel terrible that I got her sick.

As for me, I'm not feeling any better today. I've had a string of days where I felt discernibly better, but today I seem to have taken a downturn. I woke up with a very sore, swollen throat from a coughing fit that I had last evening. I finished up my first 7 day course of Levaquin today and I was hoping that I'd feel better, but today has brought with it a host of symptoms that I thought I'd gotten over. My chest is very congested, but where my cough used to be productive, my cough is deep, dry, and hacking today. I'm also wheezing pretty badly and even the inhaler doesn't seem to be helpful. I know I'm getting enough air, so this isn't anything urgent, but it's uncomfortable to say the least. My oxygen levels are still low, but they aren't as low as they've been in the past. But, I'm weak still and have trouble standing for any length of time and I can't walk any distance without getting out of breath. I'll tell you...pneumonia is not something I ever want to deal with again.

To make matters worse, my antibiotic is causing me some serious GI upset. I've barely been able to eat since last Monday when I first got sick, but I've been slowly increasing my intake. However, that's changed now and I feel too nauseated to eat. Also, my GI tract doesn't seem to appreciate anything I'm putting in it so that, too, deters me from trying to get in what I need nutritionally. But, I'm working on it. I am drinking plenty of fluids though and that is helping. I just wish my antibiotic wasn't so harsh on my system. Tomorrow starts my second 7 day course and I can't say I'm looking forward to it. But, it's gotten me this far and, for that, I'm grateful. I'd much prefer everything I'm going through at home to being in the hospital.

I made an appointment with my doctor for tomorrow morning at 9:00am. This will be my regular doctor (the one I saw last week is another from the practice -- I used her when my doctor was on maternity leave) and she tends to be very cautious where I'm concerned. So, I'm a little afraid she'll direct admit me to the hospital, but I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself.

I don't even know what else to write. I just don't feel well and, for whatever reason, it feels better to put that down where someone else can read it. My roommate being sick has put some added pressure on me as she's angry with me for getting her ill and my family has been less than supportive. But, it is what it is. I think I just need to get some sleep...

Oh, you poor thing

Here are some serious get well quickly vibes

I have a serious sinus infection that I have been battling for about three weeks, but I just went to the doctor yesterday. She was impressed with how bad it was. So, in a way, I feel your pain

No you aren't alone, I went to bed with a slight headache and woke two hours later with my chest on fire. Hoping it won't turn into pneumonia this time, last year I cracked ribs coughing so hard and I'm afraid they'll break again. Not to mention that I'm still paying off last times hospital bill.

Gee, sorry you are so sick! I have been texting my sick daughter since yesterday. She is down in bed with something....

Just try to take it day by day, or hour by hour. You sound pretty down. Your roommate should know catching something goes with the territory when sharing a room.

Hope you're better soon my friend.

I can sympathize.
I have been there many times. One year I had 3 different flu viruses from January to May, and a couple of years ago ago I had a cough that took a good 3 months to abate.

And right now I have a case of laryngitis that started at the beginning of January. Coughing from the cold air hasn't helped any.
