I took Diva in for her shots, examination and a microchip. Turns out she does not like needles and actually ripped the doctor's shirt with her back claws... I LOL'ed because I remember once when I was 6 it took 5 full grown Navy doctors to hold me down to give me my shots... The good news is, she checked out beautifully, she is in "mint condition"...

Although today is about 26 hours after I took her. She seems completely different... not very energetic, biting my hand when I try to pet her, and growling at me... She checked out fine during her exam, but now she seems in worse shape than before she went...

She's probably just punishing you a bit for taking her to the vet. Definitely keep an eye on her, I hope she's feeling better and back to normal soon!!

I guess she is just recovering from the stress

My kitty responds to going to the vet by being extra lovey to me when we get home (I'm not complaining!). But the bottom line is, she knows she didn't like the vet, and she knows YOU took her to the vet. My bet is she'll be over it before you know it, but if she isn't back to normal soon, please let her doctor know.

Holland already had her chip implanted when I adopted her, so I don't know exactly what that involves. I'm sure it's not overly pleasant...

Some useful facts RE micro chipping

You'll be pleased to know it's just a little bit more painful then an injection and what peace of mind

Just a word of advice. Some shots can have adverse effects. Perhaps let your vet know what is going on and see what they say. A change in behavoir like that is not really normal and shouldn't be looked at as her getting back at you for taking her to the vet. She could be actually sick from her shots. Definately give your vet a call just to be safe.

I think she is doing better, as of now she is getting back to being more affectionate with me. And she is eating more... I read somewhere else that sometimes the shots cause soreness.

Dusty complains all the way to the vet, but once we are there, and while waiting for the doc, she just clings to me. Poor baby. But once he is through and her carrier is on the table, she can't get in it fast enough!
She knows we are going HOME!

Not to change the subject, but I've always wondered how humans KNOW it doesn't hurt very much. Not like the cats actually tell us, you know? I was actually just wondering that the other day.

Not to darken the mood or anything but I witnessed (and my Mum assisted) with a catheter and that looked like hell compared to microchipping - my baby girl screamed and screamed

I'm glad Diva is feeling better.
She sounds like one tough cookie.

She is, she is acting as if she never had the shots... BTW she broke one of her claws when she ripped the Doctors shirt, it bled, but now, 4 days later, it does not bother her one bit...
