Woooo hooooo!!!!

I got my new laptop today and set up the wireless router!!! I also got a wireless mouse. I just need to get used to this keyboard.

We just got wireless at our house today and its the first time I've ever had it, and I LOVE IT! I've always had cable internet! Enjoy your new laptop & wireless!

I did pay $350 not $330 for it but that's ok.

Hm, old/slow technology on the processor and harddrive - looks like a 1.6ghz processor?! That's can't be right... If so be aware you're going to hit a bottleneck on that if you throw much at it.

Seems like the common CPU for the $200-300 range netbook/laptops.

If you have much issues with it being slow, consider upgrading the processor to a dual core AMD.

Also your office is a trial. If you want to upgrade it you have to go buy a copy from the store as you cannot upgrade through microsoft.

Congrats on your purchase! It's really nice being able to sit wherever you want in the house and surf the internet.

This is an interesting laptop in that it similar hardware to a Netbook, but it has sacrificed portability and battery life for a bigger display. Personally, I think it's a good trade-off if you don't plan to carry it around with you all the time or use it on trips. I can't stand those little 10.4" screens. My eyes are bad enough already without having to sit 3" away from my computer screen in order to see it clearly.

As for the office suite, I recommend you just uninstall the trial version and download OpenOffice for free. It can do 99.9% of the stuff MS Office can do (and probably lots of stuff it can't) and it's free. The only reason I have the MS Office on my home computer is that I was able to get it for $70 through the student purchasing program and I can install it on up to 3 PCs. There's no way I would ever pay the full $400 price for the retail version.

I still think it's a bit on the lower end for paying $350 for it. Especially when at least a dual core from the TL would be cheap to drop in there. BUT I know how they are at bestbuy...

I'd recommend openoffice, too (being a linux user, that's all I use). But the point is that you can't upgrade through microsoft. They got in trouble (which I think is hilarious).

I don't think mine is the single core processor.. That is why it was $20 more. The paperwork says it is a AMD Athlon 64 processor (TF-20 1.6)

Nope, the TF-20 is a low end single. What the processor itself is can't be changed no matter what they charge you for it. My guess is that you paid extra because of windows 7 or just recent mark ups.

Seems that the stats and naming doesn't quite match up properly on this OEM chip. Interesting.

Congrats on the new setup! Just make sure to password protect your network or all your neighbors will be able to use it.

It is password protected as I was required to set one up when I installed the wireless router. I know this because I forgot to disconnect the cable from the laptop after installing the software and when I tried to go on the internet after disconnecting, it asked for a PW So far I love it. I just need to figure out how to disable the touch pad since I have a wireless mouse. It is frustrating when I am typing something and I touch the pad and the curser jumps.
