So Josh and I have decided to go to San Antonio for Valentine's Day! We've wanted to go for awhile and decided the extra driving time would be worth it.

So my question for you Texans, what are your recommendations? Obviously the Riverwalk and I also want to go to the zoo. I was thinking maybe a spa visit but not sure how excited Josh would be about it.... Any good museums (other than the Alamo which we are definitely going to do) or other tourist destinations? Also, any good restaurant recommendations? Or night life? Basically anything you can think of, lol! We're staying at the Hyatt Place which looks to be right off of I-10/McDermmont Fwy b/t Huebbner Rd and Wurzback Rd. So things somewhat close would be nice, especially since we tend to get lost in big cities very very easily,
.

Any help would be much appreciated!

For Mexican food: Rosario's or La Fogata

There's a cute little train that's fun to ride, as well as a skyride at the zoo. There is a garden (Japanese maybe) next to the zoo as well. Be prepared to be depressed if you go to the zoo. It's not very adequate for the animals' needs and the elephant rocks back and forth with depression and the polar bears are simply miserable and burning up (you should see them in AUGUST
)

Hope you have fun! The food alone is worth a trip to San Antonio!

San Antonio is one of my favorite places to visit. Definitely spend some time simply strolling along the Riverwalk, both during the day and at night; and take one of the boat tours.

There is a Sea World there, if that's your kind of thing.

If you want to eat on the River Walk, go to the Casa Rio. Right across from the Hilton. Not the fanciest place, but it was the FIRST restaurant on the river, back in 1946 or some such thing. Very reasonable prices.

For fun, go across the canal under the Hilton to Durty Nelly's Pub. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's not, but the singalongs can be a real hoot.

Of course, go right across the street from the Hilton to see the Alamo. And just right near there (check a map), go and take a look at the Menger Hotel. No charge, but a really historical place. All the cattle barons (names you would know) used to stay there.

Near the Hilton end of the River walk is a market, selling souvenirs, etc. If it's open, it's fun to walk through, even if you don't buy anything.

And just around the corner from the Hilton on the river is a free, open-air theater where they have musical performances, etc. It may not be open this early in the year, but you can check it out.

Oh...did I mention my wife used to work for the Hilton corporation?

By the way, the Riverwalk Hilton is a bit of a trivia answer. It was built extremely fast, because all the rooms were built elsewhere and trucked to the site, then assembled into a building.
