Moving Sasha's litterbox

Sasha is home after cystotomy surgery. We would like to confine him to our bedroom for a few days. Less things to jump up on, no wrestling with Marlow. Vet suggested confinement.

Can I just put his litterbox in there in the most out of the way spot or should it be near the door he would go to if he were inclined to head for the usual location? Is moving him and the box a good idea? Presently Marlow's box and Sasha's box are near to each other in a mud room. A third box exists but has never been used by either cat.

I think where ever you put his box, he will find it and use it, for the few days he is in confinement, but a quiet corner would be better than by the door, imo.

You must be so glad to have him home. And he must be so glad to be there!

Yes, I can't see it being an issue. Glad he is home and doing well! Hoping for a speedy recovery!

Just put it down in a quiet, out of the way place and show him where it is. He'll use it. Is he urinating on his own yet? How is he doing otherwise?

I know you're so glad to have him home!

He seems to be very well considering. He gave me a scare this morning. At 5AM he jumped onto our bed and took a leak. When I got up I noticed blood droplets scattered around on the floor. All very fresh.

The vet said it was to be expected. He said Sasha had a very angry bladder. As long as he urinates (he is) and acts normal (he is) he'll be OK.

After everything bad (also 10" of snow last night, I had to dig my car out in case I needed to rush Sasha to the clinic) something went well. Sashas antibiotic pill is meat flavored and he ate it with his breakfast. His anti inflamitory is liquid but tastes like tuna. He licked some off my finger then let me squirt the rest in his mouth. Yes, he had an appetite this morning.

He probably associates pain with the litterbox, so you might have to do a bit of retraining on that, but it's a good thing he's urinating on his own! Good job, Sasha!

I think that if my bladder had been through all that Sasha's has been through, it would be angry, too!

Poor baby, but I'm glad he's home! You may want to invest in some Cat Attract litter for a little while.

Sasha is an equal oppertunity urinator. We have three litterboxes and he uses all of them. We finally got the third box so we could confine him to our BR at night. I had some concern that he and Marlow were wrestling at night. I didn't think that was prudent considering his surgey.

He had been "leaking" spots all over the house (everytime he sat). Today he has not "leaked". He peed outside the box only once this morning. When we were trying to pill him this morning he peed on the table top. It was bloody as ****. Becky opted out of the pill process at that point. The sight was too stressful to bear. I did get him pilled by myself later.

He seems better every day though.

Sasha is eating his SO. He is peeing bigger clumps and fewer small ones. He is still passing bloody urine. His vet says the blood could go on for weeks. It could stop and start again. It's not the best situation but at this point watch and see is all we can do.

His bladder control is back, at least for now. His inflamation is better. He's peeing better and licking himself less. He's on two different antibiotics to ward off infection. He'll get his stitches out in a day or two.

The real danger at this time is a blood clot plugging him again. We won't be out of the woods there for a while. But with the swelling going down his chances are improving if only a little bit.

Becky was baiting me last night to tell her that he will be just fine. She got upset when I refused. I am hoping for the best but preparing for the possibility of losing him.

The cause of all this is still unknown. If he survives in the short term, we are still only guessing about long term treatment.

Please try to stay positive. You three have come so far.

Is he still being a brat? If so, that is good he is feisty. Try to take it a day at a time.

Many vibes to you all, you sure are doing your absolute best for Sasha. No more than that is required.

I'm not giving up on him. I'm aware of what his options are today and going forward. If he plugs up again too soon it will mean cathetering him again through his beaten up urethra. He was cathetered three times last week.

With all the inflamation he may not be a candidate for a perineal urethrostomy at this time. At best the conditions would not be ideal.

He is still acting normal. I have been exercising him very lightly a half dozen times a day. He want's to play harder but I don't see any point in pushing him.

He is being pretty good around me. He has always been more of a brat around Becky. She is much easier for him to manipulate.

Sasha showing off his battle wound.

I think of him and you guys often. He looks like a fine fellow.

This thing is a drag, isn't it?

It is a drag. But, so far, today is better than yesterday. Big clumps, no obvious blood. He's eating and playing normally.
