I'm on an Aussie based cat forum as well, of course we have members around the world but it's nice to have a forum where information is country relevent.
I've met a lot of them at cat shows which is also nice.

I belong to another cat site that I joined before this one. It's a bit more, shall we say...edgier than this site. For that reason, I love that site and everyone on it. That being said, I love this site for the 'niceness' , not to say everyone on the other site isn't nice...we hardly ever have flair ups and aren't monitered too militantly so are pretty much hold our own accountability and are mature enough to handle it. This the only other cat site...that I frequent. I've visited a few others but...meh! I'm quite comfortable with my two homes-away-from home sites and haven't checked out any others for a long time.

MUWAHHHHH to all!

Initially I belonged to many but TCS is my only cat forum now (or any forum for that matter).

I do belong to about 6 various Yahoo groups though (all cat related)

I DO occasionally frequent the Best Friends forums, but it seems to be very slow moving, with a pretty low message turnover.

But there are some GREAT vets, etc., on that site.

I respectfully disagree about at least one vet at that site. Very un open to new ideas that she has never heard of. Gets very angry at people who follow their own vets advice instead of hers, if the methods differ. Not just me. Others have had the same experience. It's her way or no way. I no longer post there, or even lurk, for that reason.

I hadn't seen that, but then, again, I haven't even been on there for several months.

I can understand how that would be a turnoff. Heck, we have people here that do the same thing, occasionally, but always with the best of intentions.

My experience, and that of the other people I spoke to about it at the time was several years ago, actually. The staff could have changed by now, even, or maybe she did.

It's hard some times I know, when passions are high, as many subjects regarding cats evoke. There are as many ways to approach things as there are people and pets. I think a veterinarian posting on an advice board should be very careful in her approaches, though. Giving adamant, "this is the only way", medical advice without knowing a pet's whole history can be dangerous.
