Some of you may remember the thread awhile back about the polydactyl tortie that was hanging around the cab stand at Wal-Mart. Several drivers, both night and day shift were feeding her, she went from cab to cab visiting and napping.
Then one of the drivers took her home. She was thrown out in the yard with a bunch of strays, not spayed, and left outside during the unusual freezing weather we had. She scratched the people's screen begging to come in and made the husband very angry. He tried to borrow a pistol from my dh to shoot her with. DH told him animal cruelty was a capitol offense with him, and he DID NOT want to harm that cat.
I was sitting in my cab wondering when I was going to be able to go catnap her, and right then I got a trip to drop off a lady less than a mile from where the cat was. I pulled up in the yard, called her, she jumped in and we sped away.
I had gotten an email from a rescue a month after I posted a notice on lejueneyardsales.com for a home for her. I called the lady, told her I had the cat, and could bring it to her. I was concerned about getting on base, so I put treats on the floor so the sentry would not see her. Right as we got to the sentry, I hear "meow" and a little head pops up in the back window. The sentry asked "what have we here?" and I just looked at him and said "dependent, sir," and he waved me through. I just knew he was going to stop me.
I got her to her foster home and turned her over to a lovely young lady that works with Happy Tails Rescue. She emailed me today and said they have fallen in love with her and may keep her for their own instead of putting her up for adoption. She is also pregnant, possibly due any day. I wonder if she will have any little polys.
